Can someone post a picture of thier starter brace for me?? ..........I believe part of it goes to the oil pan but am not quite sure......thanks for your help........alan

Alan,
I could not find a picture anywhere but it actually goes upwards and attaches to a small hole just under the head gasket surface.

The one end bolts to a threaded collar thats above the oil pan in the block itself. The other end of course bolts to the back end of the starter.

I believe the starter brace bolts to the back of the starter and points up and bolts to a hole in the side of the block.not the oil pan.hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the help guys. This block is a Vortec, hopefully that hole is there.......what is the size of that bolt in the block 5/16"X1" maybe ???...........That really helped alot......thanks again....alan in fla.

It's 5/16"-18 x 1/2". :thumbsup:

Thanks JohnZ...............what a lifesaver this site is.....I have a gear-reduction starter, it was doing good in and out of garage, now that I have drove the car and got it heated up the starter is raising cane, going to put on the ramps Sat. have shims,brace........hope to make it work.........Just don't understand it was alright before.........thanks ........alan
