I just bought a 1982 z28 pace car replica for a parts car. I was told that they came with a posi traction limited slip rear end. Is that true and is there anyway to check and to see what type rear end you have without taking it out. Also, I was going to sell the rest of the car on e bay and wondering if there would be a big interest in this car. Theres a lot of stuff taken off the car already but the body of the car is in good shape. Thanks for any help in advance. sccountryboy2004

if a replica, it wont draw big money...part it out and sell the stuff on ebay, and you`ll make more money...turn the yoke on the rear end...if both drums/rotors turn in the same direction, than it`s a posi...if a posi, count the amount of rotations it takes of rhe yoke to make 1 revolution of the drum, and you can get a rough idea of the gear ratio...or pop the back cover and look for the numbers on the ring gear...you may see something like 11:41 in the numbers...devide the big # by the small # to get the ratio...or count the teeth if you cant find the correct numbers...hope this helps...

Look for the RPO listing, on the console door(?). This lists all the standard/options installed.

Look for "G80," denoting limited slip, regardless of gear ratio. G81, I think, is 3.23 gear.

G80 is limited slip (posi), GU4 is 3.08, GU5 is 3.23, GU6 is 3.42 GT4 is 3.73...GQ1 is standard differential.

Thanks for all the good help guys. I spun the yoke and drivers side wheel turned, the right didn't. I guess it's not a posi. I was told that all z28's had posi rear ends in them. I guess thats not true.
The 82 z28 that I have is a Indy 500 replica, not a clone. It's not one of the two official pace cars used at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway but it's one of the 6,360 Indy 500 Commemorative Editions that Chevy put out. Theres not a lot left on the car but the shell is in really good shape and I'd rather see somebody breath life back into it instead of crushing it. Thanks again for the help.

It could have posi, but with a worn out clutch cone.
