Has anyone ran NOS on the 400hp 355 Crate motor that Year One has been selling for the past year for $3,000. It has hyper. pistons and a cast iron crank. Will 100hp shot blow it up? I blew the heads off of it because of cheap head gaskets last year. But now back together it is running great and I want to go faster!!!

I'm a little leary on the hyper. pistons, but there are guys spraying 125-150 on lt1(93-97 fbody cars)with no problem just make sure you have a decent fuel system and double check your timing and go one step colder on your spark plugs and you should be ok.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but how do you figure out how to buy hotter of cooler spark plugs. Is it listed on the box?

What kind of plugs are you using? Most spark plug catalog books will have a heat range chart.

Also make sure you retard your timing at least 6 degrees for your first run/pull.Holley recomends 4 degrees with an additional 2 degrees of saftey margin.
