I have a numbers matching mostly stock 327 4 speed 68 RS camaro that I am putting together. I am putting headers on this rig and would like to keep the stock location of the alternator. I did a search and found that Corvette brackets keep it on the left side. I was wonding if you could keep the stock Camaro top bracket. I have read that the aftermarket bracket to make the stock lower bracket work sucks. Just wondering what everyone else is doing.

I used the corvette bracket (for a 78) with a generic autozone chrome strap.
It works good, much more solid that those metal things they give you with headers.

The Original Top Alternator Bracket will work well. (The bracket that mounts over the Water pump and bolts to the intake). If you need A/C Brackets, Yearwood Speed and Custom makes a really nice set. I am assuming you have an A/C car because the compressor is mounted on the Passenger Side and the Alternator on the Driver's Side. Hope this helps.

No AC. 68s had the alternator on the drivers side. Still wondering if I can use the stock top bracket and the Corvette lower bracket. Thanks

I never tried it, don't think I ever had a stock one. Guess just bolt it up and see if it clears the valve covers and if you can get a belt to fit it.
the bracket will physically bolt up and everything will line up, just not sure of the position. Mine sets the top of the alternator further out than stock so the alternator clears the valve covers.
