hello everyone. i have a 95 camaro 3.8L. wen i was driving, my car started slowing down and i went to give it gas and there was no response. the car died like 2 mins after and would'nt start. the car turns over but does'nt run. there is no noise coming from the fuel pump at all. it sounds like it is out of gas. should i try putting some fuel line cleaner in it and some premium feul? any help would be greatly appreciated!! thanx

I would put a fuel pressure gauge in the fuel rail, the fuel rail should actually retain some pressure if the pressure regulator and pump are working right so you should see some fuel leak out and there may be a reading on the gauge.
If the pressure is very low or no reading at all, you should see it rise as soon as you turn the key to the "On" possition the first time.
If the pressure doesn't rise, the fuel pump or the relay is bad.

Hope this helps some.

I'm going to try to help you and address a Team issue at the same time. Issue is the wrong word but it's what I called it.
DamNice guys like kustomwerker Mike and Everette and others are going to come along and tell you how to diagnose your system. I know this because I've seen them do it a hundred times it feels like.

Your post made me ask, has this guy done a search? And then, what keywords to put in? Beats me what I would search for if I had not seen the similar threads.

Your fuel pump isn't turning on, and the ECM controls it. No, it is supposed to come on for 2 seconds when you turn the key then it sees pressure and shuts off. You start the engine and oil pressure turns it back on. If you don't have fuel and fire at the appropriate point in the process, that is where you begin troubleshooting. In your case Everette will tell you which wires at your relay to jumper. I don't know which ones because I've never done it. Then Mike will tell you where the relay is located. I don't know because I've never done it.

What's going through my mind is we love to help people (it's why I support the site)here but what if nobody is around to answer the question, you need to run, and the identical problem has been solved hundreds of times, and you don't know how to search for something.

We also need the posts to keep recurring on same problems because it keeps it under nose, for people like me who don't have that system but want to learn about it anyway, by watching threads like this. Just in case some kid comes into my driveway or calls me up and says hey Tim my 80 or 90 something Camaro is doing something stupid...

I think we need an FAQ, with a heading that invites people to try and find their answer but to feel welcome to post because we like it. Or something like that. A broader troubleshooting arena, yeah that's it. I think JimM is wanting something like that with his overheating thread. We just need a spot to stick these things, where they are easily found, yet still encourage the Team problem solving.

Sorry I can't help any better on your particular problem.
