I just recently got a 69 Camaro and I have obtained a set of front and rear bumper guards. The rear ones arrived last week and did not come with any mounting hardware. I have it on order. The front set arrived today with hardware. They are both original GM parts. I do not have an assembly manual yet, but one is on the way. My question is the corrrect placement of the guards on the front. I can see the clamp fits over the back part of bumper and you tighten it down. I do not see a place for the bolt on the bottom of the guard to go through. Do you have to drill this hole? How far apart do they need to be. If any one has any pics I would be grateful. Thanks Ed

Ed, you will have to drill a hole for the optional front guards. The guards fit right over the downward points. with a correct install you dont see the points at all. Important! Before you drill anyholes, MAKE SURE the sheet metal on the front end is aligned perfectly, grill and bumper are mated well and bumper is aligned perfectly. Then fit the guards perpendicular to the bumper. tape the guards to the lower valence and take car outside and look at it from far away and different angles. If guards look good and straight, mark and drill :D If you use a smaller bolt and a larger hole, you will have a little adjustment, but not much!

Last fall I received a pair of front bumper guards for my '69 Camaro that had been on back order from Classic Industries for more than two years. I have tried fitting them but they just don't fit around the bumper. I could grind on them some, but then they would probably rust. I could squeeze the bumper some, but that might make the chrome flake off.
Is my re-chromed GM bumper at fault, or is the reproduction part the problem? Installing the rear bumper guards didn't require any alterations.
I have an idea... There's a cruise in this weekend. I'll carry the guards with me and try them against another car, if another one is there. Any of you guys have experience with re-pop front guards?
Here's a photo of the gap.

The originals dont really fit either, but not that bad!

I wonder if I protected the bumper with blocks of wood and c-clamped the bumper together top to bottom (on each side of the guard), installed the guards, and then released the clamps, would it hold together okay.

Could they be 67-68 guards?

Could they be 67-68 guards?
I haven't thought of that possibility. If there is an earlier model Camaro there this evening I will try them on for fit.

Put some masking tape on the edges to protect the bumpers you are trying them on. Get permission first :)

With permission I tried the bumper guards on another '69 Camaro and the fit was the same. I also tried a '68 Camaro and they actually fit better, but not like they should.
I will have to check with Classic Industries and see if they will make them right.
