You'll really like this stuff, really gets into the rust and stops it cold. Hotrod76 Aug 8th, 01, 09:25 AM The correct product that i got buy for paint underneath of the car is "rustpreventive paint" ? What's color is better? black or semigloss black? Thanx Chris Edwards Aug 8th, 01, 01:07 PM your call, semigloss is shiney, regular is dull, I prefer the dull for underneath my stuff, but again , its your car. POR15 is Great stuff. , just remember to read the directions on it for proper bonding, and WEAR GLOVES, this stuff does not come off with cleanser, you have to scrape it off (along with your skin) ------------------ http://www.67rs.com/macphreak4evr/chrissig.gif Chris's 67 RS 327, Comp280,Flowmasters,shoddy interior, pepboys carpet and rusty floors and trunk can be seen at http://www.67rs.com JOIN THE CAMARO NET WEBRING! http://nav.webring.yahoo.com/hub?ring=camaronet&list [This message has been edited by Chris Edwards (edited 08-08-2001).] Dan B Aug 12th, 01, 05:31 AM Right now I am using POR 15 and power mesh to reconstruct my trunk and protect the inside quarter panels. The stuff is wonderful! I can't tell where the metal stops and the mesh starts. One pointer from me to you: Wear gloves, old long sleeve shirt, and don't wipe your face. Take the POR-15 gallon/quart can and turn it upside down, take a small punch and put two small holes on both ends of the bottom lid. Pour the amount of paint that you will need in a separate container. Then use two self tapping screws to seal the bottom lid holes that you made earlier. If you remove the top lid from the can and put it back on, it's not going to come back off when you need to do some more painting. 2. I have had better results using foam brushes over brissle brushes. 3. The only thing that I have found to help remove POR-15 paint from you skin is finger nail polish remover and even that didn't get all of it off http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif If you like powdercoatings, you will like POR-15. It's tough and it looks good. ------------------ Ricky 68/RS on Blocks... boodlefoof Aug 12th, 01, 09:08 AM wear a shower cap!!! I learned this the hard way while working on the underside of the trunk and floorpan!!! It only came out with the scissors.... Second warning, if you use the "marine clean" to degrease the car in prep, don't get it on your hands!!! I used about a 5:1 water/cleaner dilution and after about an hour of having the stuff on my hands my skin began to peel off. I still have scars. If you use rubber gloves (as I did) make sure they are tight at the wrist. Wrap some rubber bands around the wrist to make sure none gets in to the glove... that is how my misfortune began. I agree though. Great product! gheatly Aug 13th, 01, 05:08 AM I found a way to get it off - brake fluid. Seems that even POR-15 can stand up to the assault of brake fluid. Also, I agree witht he comment about the foam brushes. They work much better than bristle brushes - and are cheaper too. ------------------ Pearl blue & white 69 Camaro with supercharged 350, Tremec TKO, and 3.73 12-bolt See my website updated 4/16/01 at: www.geocities.com/gheatly (http://www.geocities.com/gheatly) |
