View Full Version : Impressive Metalwork
RamAirDave Jul 7th, 07, 10:10 PM This 69 RS Z28 belongs to a friend of mine and one of the newer TC members Mark (69METALMAN).
He started on it about 4 months ago (nights and weekends), and it will be rolling into the paint booth within the next couple of days.
It is easier to list what didn't need replacing:
-Cowl/firewall/A-pillars
-Rockers
-Rear frame rails
-Rear seat bulkhead/package shelf
-Cowl Panel :)
-Rear Spoiler
-That's It

Got the parts back from Gregori and the engine builder has the 140-cammed 302 ready to go, so it's time for me to tackle the rest of the chassis resto.
mbmmca Jul 7th, 07, 10:13 PM Impressive doesn't even begin to cover it. Nice work!
Buck Jul 7th, 07, 10:14 PM After all that nice restoration work and he has you working on the chassis resto??? What is he thinking??? :D

No kidding, buckmiz. Hope he likes PC ;)
69METALMAN Jul 8th, 07, 12:16 AM Hope Buck knows your work Dave! Your attention to detail cant be beat.
69METALMAN Jul 8th, 07, 12:22 AM You forgot to tell them one other thing, all work done by myself!
CGFlyer61 Jul 8th, 07, 06:34 AM All that in the Arkansas heat! Very nice!
Dan
Buck Jul 8th, 07, 07:55 AM I've seen some of Dave's work. He does a very nice job. Don't tell him that tho!!!
Next you'll tell me Chris is going to paint it... ;) Whatever you do, DO NOT let him drive it... :noway:
click Jul 8th, 07, 09:24 AM fantastic job  be sure in the paint booth they dont paint the rear stripes all the way down the trunk lid under the spoiler. :D
zx401 Jul 8th, 07, 01:32 PM Yes, super job! I've been doing body work for 32 years, and I would hate to have to tackle that job. Your skills are to be commended sir! I assume this is your, his car as the labor has to be a labor of love - I would cringe at paying that labor bill.
Ed
BelAirBob Jul 8th, 07, 01:42 PM Metalman, ...What a neat car....a real Daytona Yellow RS/Z with flat hood! Are you going back with a flat hood, or adding the cowl? Imo, a flat hood might stand out in a good way....
69METALMAN Jul 8th, 07, 02:40 PM Was going with cowl hood originally but i'm tired of seeing them on every car. So your definately right, flat hood should make it stand out. One problem, my local supplier is out of those. Do you have a new one in stock ready to go? (and how much)
Buck Jul 8th, 07, 03:07 PM I would think you'd be able to track down a flat hood fairly easily. There is currently a request in the classifieds for a flat hood and 2 offers, but they are located in OH and MI.

I did the same and I am glad. If you put an ad on TC you might end up with one for free. I paid $50 for mine, then a friend told me he has one sitting around and to come pick it up.
I noticed your short spoiler. What build date is your car? If it is original, keep the shorty.

In this thread from a few weeks ago (http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=110344) , the yellow decklid I posted the pic of is Mark's car

69METALMAN Jul 8th, 07, 07:55 PM Yes its the original spoiler but car was built first week of march, so all we can figure is they found one more laying around at plant.

If you're down Memphis way sometime? Give me a holla. I've got an original flat hood that came off my Z. I've already purchased a cowl hood at the Superchevy show. I'm waiting on my painter on my project now.

Yes i know, couldn't get one in time for paint but will have one soon. When time comes to sell, buyer will have two hoods with car. Final assembled car will have flat hood!
Joe Harrison Jul 17th, 07, 01:57 AM Was this car sitting north of Cabot, where a man and his son buy and sell Camaro parts, son has tons of 4th gen parts? If this is the one I saw those pictures show nothing of how beat that thing was when you started.
Looking FWD to meeting you some day metal man. Dave and I have beers now and then.
Joe
RamAirDave Jul 17th, 07, 08:01 PM Joe, I want to say the car had been in Beebe for quite a while...
Mark would probably know more about that.
Buck Jul 17th, 07, 08:18 PM car is looking good.... but doesn't it need a suspension Dave????

Hey Joe, you might be right! Car was seen next to body shop in Des Ark (north of Cabot) for quiet a long time i hear! Dave is right about Beebe though, it was there also. From what i have learned it was in Des Ark for several years.
RamAirDave Jul 17th, 07, 10:29 PM .... but doesn't it need a suspension Dave????
Doesn't yours, buckmiz? :D
j/k
Have the parts, components are done, and the "big" chassis parts went out to blast today
69METALMAN Jul 17th, 07, 10:36 PM It will be a close race Buck, i still have rockers, firewall, bottom of car, dash, and interior to paint. Dave's got me beat!
RamAirDave Jul 17th, 07, 10:48 PM It will be a close race Buck, i still have rockers, firewall, bottom of car, dash, and interior to paint. Dave's got me beat!
Haha :D .... not quite yet....
I can knock out a chassis/drivetrain resto in a few weeks, but no way did I expect that car to be in paint in 4 months
PS: Gonna make it better than the GZ ;)
dreamweaver Jul 17th, 07, 11:03 PM PS: Gonna make it better than the GZ ;)
Yellow and gold are easy. But...... the question of the days is, what can you do with a Green car? Now that takes a real man.
Buck Jul 18th, 07, 03:43 PM Why does he need you to do the suspension anyway Dave??? 69METALMAN don't let Dave work on your car, do it yourself... He doesn't even take the tags off stuff and leaves like paint spots... :)

89Iroczracing Jul 18th, 07, 05:22 PM Very nice work, You did a great job. I have a quick question for you, where did you get the "off road" casters that you have on your body cart. Ive been looking for some and havent had much luck.
Thanks
Joey
Hatman Jul 18th, 07, 05:39 PM I found Mine @ where else but casters.com I have the 8" they had very fast shipping.
Hatman Jul 18th, 07, 05:50 PM The paint loooks pretty good but I don't recommend painting a car without a paintsuit or proper resperation the chemicals in todays paint will enter your body very fast esp. your eyes. Plus how bad woud it suck to have arm pit hair in that nice paint job.

They are an option from where the body cart was purchased:
http://www.accessiblesystems.com/bc01.php
Have seen similar casters at Tractor Supply Co., but believe they were around $40-50 each.

hatman i was painting cars before they invented the wheel, chemicals dont even give me that good ole buzz anymore! And for the paint suit, I've worn em and dont dislike them, but it was hotter than hell that night. thanks for compliment on finish, it will be buffed in about a week or so. Then i will be happy with it.
Hatman Jul 19th, 07, 07:14 AM Man you don't have to make it sound like we are that old . I looked at your first post on this site and you say you've been doing paint & body for twenty two years. You've got two years on me and I'm in the booth nearly every day. I don't think the paints of today give the buzz like they used to. But to each is his own. What kind of product did you use on this car?
69METALMAN Jul 19th, 07, 09:02 PM New brand (i think) called Pro Spray. Sprayed alot like Sikkens, but about the third of the price!
RamAirDave Jul 23rd, 07, 12:10 AM Why does he need you to do the suspension anyway Dave??? 69METALMAN don't let Dave work on your car, do it yourself... He doesn't even take the tags off stuff and leaves like paint spots...

Why is the front still sitting there smashed?
RamAirDave Jul 25th, 07, 10:35 PM Why is the front still sitting there smashed?
Hmmm.. dont know. Maybe its a reminder of what it looked like or has some sentimental value :)
Acidburn Jul 26th, 07, 01:27 AM wow, so that's what it looks like when it's clean
very nice work
69METALMAN Jul 29th, 07, 05:51 PM Man, that is purdy.

Still sitting there for all of the wiring and RS house routing references. I do need to get busy on taking headlight doors out of it though!
RamAirDave Jul 29th, 07, 09:45 PM Chassis/drivetrain should be ready to go in the next few days. You know how sometimes those little things can hold you up a little :clonk:

Billy d. Jul 31st, 07, 08:32 AM hey Mark,
why did you pull out the complete original trunk pan and rear frame rails.from the picture they both looked nice but i know you had your reasons.please let me know as its bugging the hell out of me.
thanks
JPCamaro Jul 31st, 07, 09:57 AM I love this thread. Very nice work to this point. One thing though, didn't Zs come standard with power stearing? I know the SS did, but I would have thought it would be std on Z-28s too.

1969ss Jul 31st, 07, 01:22 PM I have looked at the chassis and motor pictures, three times allready.
A true example of someone that takes a lot of pride in what he does.
You do outstanding work Dave.
Rob
69METALMAN Jul 31st, 07, 05:39 PM hey Mark,
why did you pull out the complete original trunk pan and rear frame rails.from the picture they both looked nice but i know you had your reasons.please let me know as its bugging the hell out of me.
thanks Billy the pictures dont show the rust hole that was to the rear of the trunk area. I was able to retain rails, they are very thick metal. Trunk could have been spliced but its just something i dont like to do. Not to knock splicing stuff in, its a nicer repair putting metal in where factory did!
dreamweaver Jul 31st, 07, 08:18 PM .....A true example of someone that takes a lot of pride in what he does....You do outstanding work Dave.
You have to be careful there, rob. If you keep talking like that Dave's head is going to get REAL big and he'll be to big for his britches. Also, remember that he's a redneck, so try not to use big words like pride, outstanding, and the like... he may not gully understand it. If you say something like "good job Bubba!", he'll get it.
Plus, if he thinks he's too good he may raise his rates on me.
1969ss Jul 31st, 07, 08:28 PM I'll tell you what Kalif, ol bubba there, he knows how to separate the cotton from the silk.:)
Rob
dreamweaver Jul 31st, 07, 08:42 PM I'll tell you what Kalif, ol bubba there, he knows how to separate the cotton from the silk.:)
Ooooooo - I like that... never heard that one before... separate the cotton from the silk.
I'm stealin' that one. Thanks
P.S. - I'll bet even Bubba knows that one :)
69X11Camaro Jul 31st, 07, 08:51 PM damn nice work....cant wait to see it complete
Billy d. Jul 31st, 07, 08:52 PM thanks Mark
do you do this for a living?i may need to bring my car up to you to have it done.if so how much do you charge to replace 1/4's and outer wheelhouses?
c1run1 Jul 31st, 07, 09:13 PM are those good mark doors? or dynacorn? How did they fit ?
RamAirDave Jul 31st, 07, 10:37 PM Here's a pic of the rust hole in the trunk:

Appreciate the compliments. Now I have to go "adjust" Dub's bill :D
1969ss Jul 31st, 07, 10:51 PM That was an original Kalif, I just made it up at the spur of the moment, but from here on out, you're the owner.
Rob
Buck Aug 1st, 07, 05:28 AM That thing is growing like the national debt...

69METALMAN Aug 1st, 07, 07:39 AM are those good mark doors? or dynacorn? How did they fit ?
I'm not sure what brand they were, it seems like they were all Golden Legion which according to Bel Air Bob thats who makes the parts for both dynacorn and Goodmark. Bel Air Bob had a rundown of the whole aftermarket parts thing in a thread about 2 weeks ago. It was pretty interesting stuff. Whichever i got the fit was as about as good as it gets but the stamping was real wavy!
RamAirDave Aug 1st, 07, 07:49 PM Chassis is done and ready to go
Notice the open (non-cowl induction) air cleaner

69METALMAN Aug 1st, 07, 08:43 PM I told you you would catch me Dave! Cant wait for those to get to my shop tomorrow so everyone can see it. Everyone out there if you are even remotely thinking about doing this part of your next build, dont even think about doing it yourself let Dave do it. Pictures dont even do enough for what it really looks like in person.
RamAirDave Aug 1st, 07, 09:00 PM Dont forget that Chris (73ZCar) has a lot to do with it as well
69X11Camaro Aug 1st, 07, 09:30 PM man...I can only wish for the day that my car looks even remotely like that.
RamAirDave Aug 19th, 07, 10:44 PM Well it is looking more like an actual car now

dreamweaver Aug 20th, 07, 08:37 AM Did he re-use the old front clip or is that new metal? The old stuff looked pretty banged up.
69METALMAN Aug 21st, 07, 05:43 PM The cowl panel that is just lying on top of firewall is only original piece of car.

C'mon, Gary. You know better than that :D
RamAirDave Sep 6th, 07, 10:32 PM Car is off to the top/interior shop.
Has been driven up and down the block, everything good. Engine, steering, brakes, clutch, etc.
From what I've been told, the carb from Eric (Vintage Musclecar) is flawless after needing only some minor tweaks, as would be expected
New race: it and the "Anti-Clone" to be making their first public appearances at the end of the month. :D
AutoRodTechnologies Sep 7th, 07, 06:38 AM Beautiful work guys. I didn't take the time to read the whole thread but the work looks awesome..
Keep it up!!!!!!
RamAirDave Sep 27th, 07, 09:27 PM Not too much of an update, considering the madman pace he had sustained previously. ;)
"I have to check that I'm not in 3rd gear instead of 1st." Gotta "love" that 140 cam  Sounds wicked and is running good
The "A-C" will be down to the wire, Mark's isnt gonna make the show :noway:

69METALMAN Oct 6th, 07, 07:44 AM Hey who's the new guy from Arkansas?
New guy from Arkansas (buck69) has a 69 camaro just dropped off at my shop this week, dont have pics yet but will get some soon. Car will be getting a Art Morrison C5 chassis, 540 big block monster. Buck wants machine to be extreme driver to boot. Might become "impressive Metalwork 2"

Mark, youre gonna have to get a www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) account for "Impressive Metalwork Pt.2" :D

bucks69 Oct 7th, 07, 10:36 AM Sounds exactly like that. man that sounds bad, makes me wonder why I want to go so big on cubic inches if I can get that sound and some good HP.
It wont be done by the end of the month there happens to be a judge blocking it...lol GTO that is.
For my sake, and my backpockets sake, lets hope we dont have to go that deep into it that it becomes Impressive Metalwork II
Jim, ultimately it was you who in a round about way who got me here.. You recommended Dave (on another site) for an idea on getting my car blasted therefore I became a member here and got to looking at Daves post and VOILA' found Mark. I appreciate the info and hopefully when we get it on the road we can all meet up and enjoy the rides.

Okay, think that's enough derailment of this thread. Get to work, Mark!! :D

ubercamaro Oct 27th, 07, 02:34 AM MetalMan what brand of sheet metal did you go with? OER, Goodmark etc? I'm looking to start on mine and looking to get feedback on what panel brands I should look to getting. I know that no one manufacture is perfect nor evertime consistent, but just wondered which you used cause that looks great. The result is more from your work than the panels.
RamAirDave Oct 27th, 07, 06:30 PM They worked 'til 4:30 am, but came up a little short. :(

add: pics tomorrow
bucks69 Oct 27th, 07, 10:37 PM Hey Dave missed you down there today.. I pulled a no-brainer and got there I think before the first car arrived..lol I have to admit there was some (not many) but a few nice cars there today.. There was a 69 vert from Louisianna that was stunning. A nice superbird and a few killer chevelles. Congrats on your car winning. I talked to Mark and he told me about the trouble he was having but I told him no biggie just dont get in a hurry and take any shortcuts because he has it by the you know what now and no sense in selling it short. I kept looking for 73 but never found it and ended up leaving about 2 I was wore down and very overdressed.. it got a little warm this evening. Anyway I will be coming back and we will have to get together and grab a bite and a beer. I got to take Mark the cowl panel anyway i forgot it when I dropped the car off.
RamAirDave Oct 27th, 07, 11:00 PM Yeah, the whole day got kinda screwed up. I think I couldve gotten his car there to the show, but no big deal. The news out of NE Ark put me in a better mood ;)
Think the next event around here will be in January: http://www.bigcruisefest.com/autofest.php (First time Ive seen those pics from last year) Might be able to get a few cars there, we'll have to see.

All the aftermarket sheetmetal pretty much comes from one source-Golden Legion! Everything fits about as good as it gets considering where it comes from. Only part I really didn't care for was rear tailpan, just seemed to be real bad stamping and took alot of reworking and fabricating. Every piece takes some work though, just be prepared and do whatever it takes to make the fit look better than the cars came from the factory. If you want the whole rundown on where the sheetmetal comes from just ask BelAir Bob, he posted a thread a while back with the whole rundown about aftermarket sheetmetal. Thanks for checking out my car!

I like this pic of it on the lift. Ive never used this method/procedure/sequence, but he said it worked very well and we'll try it on the next one:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b217/RamAirDave/YellowRSZ/101_0233.jpg
Considering the amount of time, the progress has been amazing. There are some things he's not crazy about with the car, as well as myself. But that's how it goes when finishing up the last details on a full frame-off.
We'll have it "right" when its all said and done, though
Lobstah Nov 6th, 07, 09:29 AM Just saved that picture...interesting process for sure.
Is the front clip being supported by anything other than the bolts to the main body? I'm guessing it doesn't weigh all that much stripped down...

............but, don't you have to have a lift in the first place in order to use this method/procedure/sequence ? Or did you finally stop using ropes and Banyon trees and break down and bought a lift? :D

Putting fenders on with fender wells and subframe/engine already in place is OK but not as easy as the way i did this one! The only thing I wouldnt do is put the hood on till after subframe is in place. Was kind-of worried about my (fender to door) gaps after we let the car down but they never changed! If you ever need to just pull the engine out of one and you have a lift this is the way to do it, just remember to support the rear of the car so it doesn't try to flip off the lift backwards from the weight of the rearend. Speaking of, we installed rearend first. If someone wanted to have even more fun, install front and rear at same time but make sure you have enough eyes and hands to watch each corner as body is let down in place.
dreamweaver Nov 6th, 07, 10:03 PM No Banyon trees in Arkie. Hickory or some other shade tree

From a discussion over at CRG forum. This picture came to mind.
"The complete front clip was built-up (after paint) in the sheet metal subassembly area on a conveyor buck as a unit (rad support, header, hood latch support, lower valance, inner fenders, outer fenders and extensions, radiator, wiring, headlamps, etc.) and installed to the body as a unit, followed by the hood hinges and the hood. The drivetrain, subframe, axle, etc. were installed from below as a unit after the front sheet metal was installed."

RamAirDave Nov 28th, 07, 08:51 PM Now that the bad weather and the holiday has passed, I finally have the car. He needed a break from the car, which we can all understand.
First time I have seen it since the day I started this thread, when it was in primer on a body cart.
It's a really nice car, I was pleased with it. You can tell that Mark put a lot of time and effort in getting everything to fit right. Doors, trunk, hood open and close very nicely, and the gaps/seams/windows are even and flush.
I'll spend several days on it getting all the details (those that most would probably never notice) the way I want them, and then he'll do the same with what he does.

RamAirDave Nov 28th, 07, 09:57 PM Is he really thinking about selling it?
He's burned out on the car right now, so it's a [likely] possibility. Plus, I don't think he's much of a fan of bright yellow.
I do have a question though do you know of a nice wheel shop that is also knowledgable that I could visit while I am down there? TIA
There is a place a block from the shop that is a dealer for aftermarket wheels. I've known the guys for years, so we can go buy there if you want and if time permits.

RamAirDave Dec 16th, 07, 10:54 PM Full (cold, rainy) weekend of beating on it, nothing broke. Gonna need some new SC200s, though.
I'm pretty much done with it. Got the engine compartment to where I'm fairly pleased with it as well as some of the other stuff.

Hideways work perfectly now, thanks to the original 39-year-old switch (NO thanks to the junk OER switch  )
Don't worry, Jay. You won't miss the parts I robbed off of your car the other day that I needed for Mark's Z :D
Will make its first show first weekend of January.
KevinW Dec 17th, 07, 05:06 AM Dave, Very nice engine bay detailing! Any plans to reinstall the smog? What finishes did you use for the hinges, hood latch and bolts? They look nice. thx
RamAirDave Dec 17th, 07, 10:25 PM Thanks, Kevin.
The hood hinges/latches, brake booster, backing plates, caliper brackets, and alternator fan/pulley were done by Gregori. Most of the hardware is AMK, some of it I Palmetto'd.
bucks69 Dec 20th, 07, 06:02 PM Dave if you used anything off that heap o' mine more power to you!!!
Looks good for sure, I can see Mark smiling from here...
Cant wait to get back down and see everyone and the work you all done to it.
I was hoping within the next couple of weeks a big package would have arrived at Marks, but I am not too sure now, I had thought it was already getting welded up but there was some issues and I just now got back from a week long hunting trip to South Dakota and what do you know they needed to talk to me before they could move ahead, I will get it straightened out and back on track tomorrow. Maybe see all of you soon and if I dont Merry Christmas to you, Mark, Chris, and last but not least Joe. Have a safe holiday season everyone....

GMJoe Dec 21st, 07, 03:51 PM I haven't checked out this thread for a while.
All i have to say is WOW.
Everyone who worked on should be proud of the way she turned out , congrats on a job well done

Pretty sure I got the last that was useable (at least for me) :D

No banging gears in Jay's car for a while. That yellow BB 69 isn't his.
6781camaro Dec 21st, 07, 09:16 PM Nice job on that body!
I would stick with the flat hood myself too. I just picked up an NOS flat hood for $50 in a body shop locally. He just didn't use it... Not to tease you but I simply saving it as an investment for the future. You can still find them out there. You never know what someone has.
If you would like to buy some Rosewood dash parts, I just listed some. Clearing out my extra stuff.
Todd
bucks69 Dec 21st, 07, 09:44 PM Dave you holding out on me? Where was the yellow car when I was there? LOL
Did you buy the one up the street? You should be getting a call from my boss pretty soon, he is looking for a first gen runner to fix like he sees fit and I gave him a card and told him to call you. I told him about chris's in the back so we may be coming to see you even sooner than I thought. He is headed to Nashville to look at one tomorrow but I think it is "too done" for him and he doesnt want to tear down a finished car, but we will see.
RamAirDave Dec 21st, 07, 09:59 PM Haha... the yellow BB was only in for a few days. Just a hotrod X11 car that needed assembly and some paint work by Chris.
The project cars that have "found us" lately have been real Zs and SSs, not sure if that is what he's looking for or not.
Looks like we'll have Mark's Z and the "Anti-Clone" at http://www.familyevents.com/eventinfo.asp?id=99 if you're looking to make a trip to LR.
RamAirDave Jan 6th, 08, 09:51 PM Will make its first show first weekend of January.
Learned this weekend that the Auto-Focus isn't working right on my cam, so this is the best I have for now:

Weather was nice, so Mark left the trailer at home and drove it back to the house . Even though it wouldve probably been out of focus, would liked to have gotten a pic of him getting it sideways leaving the Convention Center :D
And yes, he has been made well-aware of the stripes on the edge of the hood ;)
Joe Harrison Jan 7th, 08, 09:36 AM Sorry I missed that show Dave......got stuck doing home improvement.

It was interesting meeting a few folks that knew/recognized the car from this thread.
I'll send you a link to a bunch of pics from the show. Guess which two cars were left out
Mark drove it home, ~1/2 hour drive on the interstate with no problems. As long as he doesn't break it, he can beat on it all he wants :D . I wonder when the dirt track racing season begins around here? :p
Another pic from the show:

RamAirDave Feb 18th, 08, 11:43 PM Best Original Restored in a field of 1000+, not too shabby

375 days after our first inspection of the car (pics in the initial post of this thread).
alanrw Feb 19th, 08, 08:38 AM Nice, maybe all you should do with that car is just take it from show to show and swoop up all the awards. One of the best I have seen.
:)

Gary L Feb 19th, 08, 02:14 PM Dave, what did you use for trim rings and derby caps?
RamAirDave Feb 19th, 08, 08:28 PM Dave, what did you use for trim rings and derby caps?
I believe they're new GM, but Mark would know for sure.
Gary L Feb 19th, 08, 08:54 PM I had my covers polished and got new ornaments from GM. I am mostly curious about the trim rings.
RamAirDave Feb 19th, 08, 10:51 PM I am mostly curious about the trim rings.
Pretty sure he got the rings from GM. As far as Part #s and clip style, he can probably answer that for ya.
69METALMAN Feb 20th, 08, 08:19 AM Pretty sure he got the rings from GM. As far as Part #s and clip style, he can probably answer that for ya.Yes the trim rings and center caps are from the GM parts counter. Get ready to pay up though, They aint cheep! After seeing them come out of the box and go on to the car they are worth it. Supposedly Ricks has a less expensive version of originals but have not seen them.
Blade Feb 20th, 08, 09:00 AM man that car turned out great

What is the trim ring part number? What clips do they use?
69METALMAN Feb 21st, 08, 09:11 AM What is the trim ring part number? What clips do they use?
The trim ring part number is 9796696 and the clips are metal! I do know they are not easy to put on, the metal clips make them a tight fit!
alanrw Feb 21st, 08, 09:25 AM Do you guys know why they went to the 4 clips on the rims instead of the 360 degree spring flange? My 3/69 build car came with the latter and when I had a need (high speed interface with a curb and ladie's front yard in Brentwood, Calif.) for a new ring 3 months later, I got the clip version. The clips were a hassle compared to the spring flange versions.

alan The clips are definately a hassle but i think its for keeping them on the car better. I haven't run my car very hard but I have a feeling they would stay on better than the old style.

great job and thanks for keeping us updated as well.
