Any thoughts how i can purchase the magnesium
dash shown on the 2003 Dodge Viper. Can anyone please direct me where Dodge sources these from. I have contacted a local
metal artist and he suggest i buy them rather
than he fabricates one like it. He is willing to install.
Will this dash look good in a 69 camaro

Your thoughts please...

Thanking in Advance

I haven't seen a 2002 viper yet! I have no clue what the 2003 dash will look like... http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif I assume that was a typo. I would imagine you have a very fat wallet!! If done right it would be a sharp Pro-Touring mod.... Tucker used 4th gen guages in a '69 that is very http://www.camaros.net/forum/cool.gif I read it was a nightmare and long hrs to get it to finished project...

Good Luck,

Sale of 2003 viper will commence in August 2001. I have enclosed a link to view the magnesium dash. I beleive you can view more pictures in the road and track web site too.

I am hoping it be more cost effective in purchasing the magnesium dash rather than fabricate one.
Anyone know outthere knows where Dodge sources these from..

thanks

I think you'll have some time to plan as the article reads "The Dodge Viper will go on sale in August 2002 as a 2003 model. It will be built at DaimlerChrysler's Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan."

It might be easier to buy the Viper...

I don't know this to be true in every case, but normally, the "just in time" parts allocation from the supplier to the car companies doesn't allow for extra parts for sale to the general public until some time after the release of the car.
I, too, was under the impression that the new Viper wouldn't be released until 2002.

Hey the 2003 Viper will go on sale August of 2002.
I work at DaimlerChrysler and try to keep up on whats going on.
It is posted on the sight listed above.

The dash would look great but chances are you won't get one for awhile and it will cost you a mint.
Thanks,Matt

The 2003 Viper dash isn't magnesium - only the structural reinforcement underneath it, plus the entire cowl, firewall, and door hinge pillar structure - all one piece - the biggest magnesium die-casting in the history of the industry. The appearance parts are conventional vinyl and urethane-skinned plastic. The car will be out in August 2002 (at the earliest), and the magnesium die-castings will be made by Meridian Magnesium Products. The castings and finished instrument panel will probably set you back about $8,000.00 or more, not counting modifications/fabrication to make it fit.

John Z is correct. Meridian Magnesium Products of Eaton Rapids, Michigan will be the manufacturers of the dash support piece. They produce quite a few different die-cast magnesium components for the automotive industry.

I worked there for a little over a year when the facility first opened in late 1993, and at that time they were producing seat frames for Johnson Controls, steering column parts for Chrysler, transfer cases for Ford, dash panels for Chevy Astro vans, etc. I ended up leaving when there were to many accidents & fires. Too little $ for too much risk.
