View Full Version : Another Crook trolling eBay
Pacecarjeff Jul 8th, 07, 06:02 PM The "pail of tags" guy has another fake tag for sale.
He knows that these are fake - so he is just a common thief.
He responded to my question by asking me: "what about his tag looked wrong"?

Dayton68Z28 Jul 8th, 07, 07:27 PM LOL!
$10 shipping? For a fake cowl tag. That tag can't weight 2 oz. If you shipped in a letter, the cost would be $.58.
wiskeesour Jul 8th, 07, 07:28 PM I thought that was funny....
South Side Goons & Hitmen Jul 8th, 07, 08:44 PM WOW!!! A whole bucket/pail full of 1969 trim tags. What's next an early built Norwood car with a COPO paint tag and X22 427 ZL1 engine that was one of a kind. Geez!!
RobSS1113 Jul 8th, 07, 09:21 PM you should of seen my eyes when I saw the bucket of 69 Tags....
Pacecarjeff Jul 8th, 07, 09:30 PM The bucket is full of rags, then only a few tags on top -
I told him:
"Just so you know - It may be legal to sell trim tags at this time...
But it is NEVER legal to sell replica items with the intent to defraud -
That act is a felony in all 50 states.
Consider this a fair warning"
He got mad and swore at me. :D
But there goes his legal argument, claiming that he did not know they were fake tags.
68zproject Jul 8th, 07, 10:31 PM Maybe we should find out where he lives and sell fake titles to his house on E-scam, then we can see how he feels.

Jeff, you must have struck a nerve with him, he has added a disclaimer to the auction.
Don't foget, he is aware of this site and is probably monitoring postings....
Pacecarjeff Jul 8th, 07, 11:19 PM Disclaimer does not matter. He is still selling a counterfeit item...
all along knowingly representing it as authentic. - still a crime.
He can't be blamed for the future phoney car.
However when someone figures out it is a fake tag he can be prosecuted for fraud.
Yes he reads us - he was here gathering information on 67 Pace cars a while back. Had some cock-a-mamey scheme he was cooking up.
Then he started buying lots of 67 parts.
Some of the other guys took notice back then, and have been watching him ever since.
69Camarozz396 Jul 9th, 07, 04:53 AM I am a Camaro nut through and through and cant see paying $5 for a trim tag that doesn't belong to my car. There is no value for this item as a collectible.:noway::noway::noway::noway: Period. I look forward to the day that you have to prove their collectible status in a honest marketplace. The droves of collectors that are awaiting your next masterpiece and driving up the value. HA!
You can try and claim its a novelty item but for $350? There is only one reason that someone is willing to pay several hundreds or thousands of dollars for your item and that is to use them fraudulently.:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes: Your intent can clearly be seen!
Everett#2390 Jul 9th, 07, 05:16 AM Hmm, Hot USA ? where is this place?
Why does he have a yahoo.ca (canadian) account if he ships from US?
c1run1 Jul 10th, 07, 02:33 PM you guys have to show me how to read them , i can't tell if they are fake or not .
wiskeesour Jul 10th, 07, 03:25 PM Whats that smell?
South Side Goons & Hitmen Jul 10th, 07, 03:55 PM c1run,
I asked that question before (how to read them) The experts will tell you what I was politely told in a PM. If that is discussed in the open forum the crooks become even better at selling fakes clones as the authentic real thing.
IMHO the bigger issue that I try to help people with is not the fake tag. It's when someone takes lets say a tag off of a stolen or crushed 06A tagged or 01D tagged car. The big issue is when the crook takes off the X11 or X44 tag and places an X77, X33, X22 tag on the same car. That's really hard to notice and only the best of the best like maybe Kurt S, wiskeesour, pdq, Jim M and others can tell if the tag was removed from one car and placed on another.
The easy ones are when clowns put 02D tags on early Norwood cars like 10D ( I had a 10D early Norwood car) Most Camaro fans know they did not put X codes on early Norwood cars. Or some clown taking an 07C tag and putting it on a car with a much much earlier VIN which would have been built in January or February.
Bottom Line: Take a look at a real tag like a lower priced X44 on a low priced car which is likely original. Then look at one a guy claims is an X33 or X77 Z28 which is an obvious fake tag. I won't give it away, stare long and hard then stare again. You will notice what the experts told me to notice. Then you will see the difference.
Good Luck!!
c1run1 Jul 10th, 07, 04:43 PM what ya smelling wiskeesour ? the Pepper steak Dinner i just made ?
LOL
well i guess it comes down to reference books and date codes . These guys must have them . I had a tag posted a while ago and asked if it was real i . i was told i was blind , not never given an answer . I just didn't buy that car . But if the car is a good or fair deal i want to know my Ps and Qs and not be butt f@@Ked , and don't always have time to wait for some professional opinion .
zdld17 Jul 10th, 07, 05:43 PM Even exchanging PM's, you could be revealing something. Really have to know what you have on the other line.
South Side Goons & Hitmen Jul 10th, 07, 08:59 PM Actually he did not reveal anything in a PM. He sent a few links to some tags on cars listed for sale by other owners on different sites. He did not reveal which ones were real and which ones were fakes. Then he told me to stare at each one for several minutes. It was cool. He insisted and stated that is never discussed here. But after those photos I learned to spot them (the fakes) much better. I still don't consider myself an expert (not even close) but I'm much better now than I was a year ago.
Basically I only chime in when it's an obvious fake like an 04C tag on a 124379N5XXXXX car. The rest I leave up to the experts.
