the dash pad on my 69 camaro was not put 0n
correctly by the lazy mechanic that repaired the heater/ac.. he did not put it back on correctly so now it not totally flush with the dash and it pokes out at the botton, on the glove box. it still looks in good shape, no rips etc. can i save it? and does anyone know the steps to remove and replacing it back the correct way? thanks for any info on this.

Ribby, there are two screws, one on each end of the dash pad ( you have to open the doors to get to them ), there are also two screws above the speedo bezel and two more above the gas gage ( or tach ) bezel also four nuts up under the dash between the heater control and glove box that hold the pad on.

After you remove the ten fasteners pull the pad toward you and it will come off. Insect the four studs that are bonded into the pad that you took the nuts off of. If the suds are still bonded into the pad all you have to do is reinstall the pad, if not you can try to re-glue the stud or studs in.

There are six clips at the top of the dash pad that hold the top of the pad down, when you reinstall the pad these clips slide into slots on the dash first, then push the four studs in place. Replace the four nuts first before the six remaining screws ( do not over tighten the nuts).

With a little luck maybe the guy just left a couple of the nuts off and you won’t have to remove the pad.
