Right off the bat I have to say, if you have the opportunity to go to one of the up coming Rev It Up events don't pass it up. Take your wife, girlfriend, dad or a few buddies. If you have never driven a car at an autocross or open track day it will be like being 10 years old at Disneyland and being tall enough to drive the Autopia cars for the 1st time. It's still cool to beat on someone elses cars even if you have lots of driving experience.

The initial competition part is in Cobalts but you get 2 laps in Vettes on one course as well as all the practice laps you can make in both Cobalts and Vettes in another course. What a blast. They had another course you could ride shotgun with a pro driver in a ZO6 and a course set up that anyone 18 that showed up was handed the keys to almost the whole Chevy lineup.

Having no prior track or performance driving instruction I was put into the novice division and would have qualified for the shoot out (in Vettes) if I hadn't taken out a cone... They have a pro set the index several times during the event to account for weather and track conditions and each division is handicaped. This way a novice has a fair chance against the experienced drivers.

From the other thread my car was selected to display Friday and Sat as part of the Chevy Nation display next to the convertible Concept Camaro. Everyone is probably tired of shots of both my car and the Concept but for me it was a really cool deal to have the White Wonder be on display. Getting up close and being allowed to sit in the car initially and in the end go for a short ride was also cool. Here are a few pic's of the Chevy Nation Display...

Here's a few more... I really got a good understanding of what "Concept" means to GM. This is a $5,000,000 car but it really is a delicate running driving model. Check out the trunk and the pins holding the deck lid on. This is truly a trailer queen and even though it has all the mechanicals and is in all apearances a finished product every piece used in this car is a one off production. The guy in the 3rd pic is Chris, he reminds me of Jeff (HawaianCamaro) he has the keys to about 60 GM concept cars and is responsible for their well being. He was a great guy to meet and talk with and every time I stopped by my car he was there keeping the crowd in check around both the concept and my car. The times he was sitting down he was in a chair right behind the White Wonder.

The top up was their idea, I don't think the concept has a top and with mine displaying up they felt it might have worked on the onlookers imaginations with respect to the concept.

Sitting in the car is nothing like a 4th gen. You actually get to bend your legs and feel like your in a car designed for people not a race car. I loved my 4th gen but always felt like I was sitting on a pillow on the floor with my legs straight out in front of me. Don't take that wrong, it's not like sitting in your office chair with your knees bent 90 degs by any means. The short ride I got left me feeling this thing was going to be a blast to drive but also instilled that a concept is not a long term road worthy vehicle by any means. I know someones going to say well the Dodge concept is being driven and put through it's paces. Reality is it is a body placed on an existing platform. The Camaro platform is brand new. I also learned that Dodge may actually have to cancel it's entry into the Muscle car market because of financial issues and having been bought out by a private corporation.

Good job Dennis! You done us proud. Your car looked perfect next to the 09. If I had to pick between your car and the 09, I'd take the White Wonder. Oh, btw, Those girls didn't have bikini's but a great shot just the same:D

Thanks Jim. Always have a TC sticker displayed on the ragtop... Wanted to put one on the Concept but the powers that be felt they didn't have the clout to authorize it. I guess with a company the size of GM it could imply to the lawyers and bean counters lost revenues from product merchandising. Example; a Team Camaro hat worn by an extra in a movie might be blured out unless Al paid for the product merchandising...

Dennis,

Well done and thanks for sharing your experience. Your car does look great! I just noticed one of the ladies is standing on the inside of the rope. A tad close to your car, but I am sure you talked to her about that....

Dennis...
To be honest...I'll take your 69 over the new Camaro! You can never beat the original ....looks and feel. Remember when the kit came out for the Corvette, using a C4 as a donor to make a new 61 or 62. This is what my thoughts are on the new Camaro. I know its a new platform however I have not taken to the looks. Where I know many do like it, and I am only speaking in my opinion, it looks like something that was rushed out just to compete with the Mustang and Charger. People...don't throw stones at me ok :)

Kevin - you don't have to like it, a lot of folks won't and that's ok. Chris, the guy GM trusts with the keys to a Car that cost them $5mil to get to this point said it best. "If GM wanted to build a 1969 Camaro over again they could in a heartbeat." Thing is automotive production is 100% about the future. The past is for auto restoration, hobbiests and collectors. When the Camaro comes out what will the Ford do bring back the Mustang II. The current Mustang is already slumping in sales, those in the market are falling off and ready for something different already... Dodge doesn't look like their entry into the "New" Muscle Car era will make it even thought it's a re-body on an existing platform.

If I had my way I would change a few things but it wouldn't be drastic but would give the car bit more retro look...

Anyway it's all good and what makes the world go round and worth staying tuned to see what does evolve... Personally even if I didn't like the car I would not want GM making brand new 1967-8-9 Camaros in 2009. Do we really need another 250,000 1st gens on the road every year?

Guys, if you have a chance to attend one of these, please do it! You won't regret it.
Mary and I had a blast, got to drive not only the Cobalt, but a couple of runs in a new Vette!!!

We also got a free session in the Go-Karts, what a fun day!
