I installed new polyeurethane leaf spring cushions and my father feels like there shouldn't be anything between the spring and the perch. The rear feels like it wants to shift under hard acceleration and when I put the new ones in the old ones were all eat up into pieces. My father said it's because the rear has been moving around and it wouldn't do that if the rubber wasn't there. I am thinking of taking them out. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

Do you still have the mono leaf springs?
Mono leafs have a locating nub welded on the bottom of the spring that fits into a nub in the spring pad which fits into a locating hole in the shock plate. You will need both the upper and lower pads installed to properly clamp the spring in place. The locating nub keeps the perch centered on the spring.
Multi leaf setups use different pads, perches, and springs. The spring through-bolt keys into the pads which fit into locating holes in the perches and shock plates keeping everything from moving around.
If you have multi leaf springs in mono leaf perches you should check out DSE’s multi leaf conversion kit.

Does anyone have a breakdown of their mono leaf spring cushion install?? I did not have any t-bolts, but my spring had one bolt going through the spring and it went through the lower block in my case and held them together. What are the t-bolts for? How does the top pad stay in place? I drilled a hole in it and bolted it together with the spring and bottom block. I didn't have any kind of pin in the spring at all. These are aftermarket graphite mono springs.

You need the pads to clamp the axle to the spring.
If you want to firm it up you can use Polyurethane pads. Summit has them.
