Finally got the Camaro back on the road tonight. New motor and rebuilt the trans (too many times).

Started out with rebuilding the trans because I broke the ring gear in it. Decided to go through the motor. Ended up taking it out to a 388 with 10.9 to 1 flat top's with a new Comp Cam. Kept my sportsman II heads and had them rebuilt.
During the trans rebuild I had to replace the intermediate drum and front pump as I also put in a new Hughes 3000 stall converter. Get everything back into the car and after breaking in the cam the motor goes into a "DEAD" miss. Troubleshoot it down to a broken poly lock that let the rocker back off (find 4 more broken ones while reinstalling the inner valve springs). Motor now runs sweet but the trans has problems.
Wouldn't shift until 4500 RPM or more and slipped badly. Troubleshoot it down to a bad front pump. Replace it and clean everything up and get it back into the car only to have the new converter go bad. Pulled it back out, tore it apart and cleaned it all up again and put in a new Hughes converter and reinstalled everything.

Just drove it out to the gas station and everything is working 4.0, Stays in 1st until I hit the shifter and it will flat jump sideways at about 3800 and 1/2 throttle. Third gear hits just as hard.
Now to put some miles on it and settle in for the tune-up.
Will post more pics on my site later. See the new trans cooler is almost as big as the Rad itself!

Looks nice Tony...

Geesh, if it wasn't for bad luck, you would have no luck at all. :( Cheer up now that things are going forward again.
