Hello Camaro experts,

I have a 69 RS/SS Big Block car, that will be going under a new paint makeover this winter. My car was painted fire engine red, and as you know, this is not a 69 color. The car should be Tuxedo Black with White stripes.

Question I have is: in 1969, was the "Z-28" striping over the hood and trunk an option for a RS/SS Big Block car? I like the look of this stripe with White over Black, but do not want to do it if it is not authentic.

I have no documentation for what stripe my car had originally, but know that the cowl tag reads 10 10.

Thanks for the insight!

Nope. Hood and deck stripes were not a standalone RPO, they only came as part of RPO Z28, Z10, and Z11.

The default "SS" stripe was the D90 "hockey stick", and was inculded in RPO Z27. A car without this stripe would have been a special paint car, and would have "- -" on the cowl tag instead of a 10 10.

So, 99.999999% certain that your car had a white D90 hockey stick.
