The family and I, seven total, will be staying at the The Resorts of Pelican Beach (http://www.pelican-beach.com/index.html) from 7/14/7-7/21/7. :hurray::D We are planning on renting a pontoon boat and going to Crab Island for a day, and visiting Big Kahuna's waterpark. Does anyone have any suggestions of things to do, other than the beach, golf and the previously mentioned items? Are there any local cruises/car show during that time?

Thanks in advance,

Rod, have lunch or dinner at Pompeno Joes , its right on the waterfront, windows open to hear the surf and gulls, great food and cool atmosphere. Dont forget to go to Pensacola and see the Naval History Museum its awesome. McGuires Irish pub is fun eating, with dollar bills stapled all over the inside of the place.
My dad winters right across the street from Pompeno Joes, thats how I know it so well :) you will enjoy the time there.

Don't forget to eat out at Fudpuckers.

I asked close to the same question about Destin in this thread:

I forgot about them...you sign your name on the walls there with a marker, saying where you are from and also grab a bunch of their cups too. I have 4 that are over 5 years old and still holding up. McGuires will custom imprint your name on a mug for a few $. :D

I bought a long sleeve t-shirt from Fudpuckers for each of us when we were there. These. (http://shop.fudpucker.com/default.cfm?p=Store-Item&productid=248)

I second the Naval Musuem tour. It is great. Looks like you will miss the Blue Angels practice though. They are scheduled the week before and week after your trip. Definately worth the drive to Pensacola. Enjoy your trip!

The Naval Museum sounds like a great idea. It was one of those things I wanted to do the one year I lived their in 1993, I was stationed at Eglin AFB, but never got around to it.

Closer to home...go to the Eglin AFB museum as well...I had a friend who was from there in college, love the place, now my wife...an Ohioan, loves it as well and we vacation there every May. The Eglin Museum is cool, much smaller than the Naval Aviation museum, but cool in its own right! Its just a blast for me to watch the F-15s and basically every other type of military aircraft do a beach fly-by on a regular basis!

Even after almost 10 years in the Air Force and launching/watching 1000s of aircraft I enjoy watching fly-bys.

Thanks for the suggestion.
