My son stopped by Goodies last night and questioned if they did dyno tuning. They do with some tweaks and bung additions for O2 sensors for $330. Does this sound about right? They guaranteed the car would leave with more power than when it arrived.

Almost exactly what I paid ..($350).....I picked up around 30 ponies....but most of all the the engine ran so much better.....Glad I did it!

Our club went to a guy down in Salinas, it was well worth it. Everyone improved! :)

You can save some time and $$$ if you check your total timing, check that you are getting full throttle, have a good low restriction air cleaner, oil level is up, etc.

You don't want to be fooling with basics when you are on the dyno.

David did the place you went to do the tuning or just give you the dyno info and let you tune? I believe the way Paul has it setup, you give them the car and they give it back tuned and with some paper to show the improvements...

Our local dyno-day cost much less but also didn't include shop tweaking and tuning; the owners had to do this themselves in between pulls. The shop techs offered advice but didn't do much hands-on. Each session was limited to about an hour (time started as soon as the car touched the rollers until it was disconnected and driven off) as we had nine cars that needed to be done that day.

Dave's right about making sure your car is properly tuned, has plenty of fuel, fluids at safe operating levels, etc. before it's put on the dyno as you want to get the best value for your time and $$$. For $330, you're probably getting about two hours worth of time and the rest is labor for the sensors and tuning. You'll also get as many pulls as necessary to ensure that maximum hp/torque values are seen.

Dyno-tuning is a very cool means of getting the best performance from your engine. Definitely do it and let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Will do! Already have new plugs, Amzoil and filter. Carb is full open at max throttle. I also will double check timing. Thanks for the reminders.......my understanding is these guys know something about Camaros and the tuning of them. My son plans on taking the day off to watch and perhaps film the effort. Just need to get a video recorder as the other two we have bit the dust a few months ago..............
