Hey all, I am presently removing the floor from my 67 (Coupe) and I need to know how the rear frame is attached to the floor pan so I can remove it without any problems. An old post said that I could remove the (old) floor with the rear end still on the car so the car is in a natural standing position (The rear end and leaf springs are still on the car) but it looks like that may not work. I did not take pics cause I didnt have my camera. Sorry. Any takers?

Hey Johnny. When I did my floor, I left the rear frame rails intact coz I was planning on using those to align the new pan. I did have to cut carefully the torque box section out that connects the rail to the rocker. Most of the torque box I had was rusted really bad.

I would recommend that you drill the spot welds saving the rails. I did use a air chisel to cut some of it, but tore some of the old rails which weren't going to be used. This was my first time removing anything mind you. But I also had my donor car to take new rails off of. You could leave the rear end in place, but I wouldn't. The stress from the front perches tend to push up on the rails, causing alignement problems. Best to remove the rear end, or, support the rear part of the rockers and lower the rear end and springs with the perches attached. Make sure you take measurements to key locations on the floor pan, it makes reinstalling the new one a breeze. I have many reference pictures if you want to check them out. Look under "floor replacement pictures".
