I found a 69 tilt wheel in good condition, but it is taken all apart. There are lots of pieces and it seems like a night mare to put back together. He wants a $ 100.00 for it.
Is it worth it and where can i get a illustration to put this thing back together again.
thanks pete

If it's all there, yes. There's a good pic and explanation of how it goes together in the '69 Camaro Service Manual, available from most of the parts suppliers.

Pete,
I don't know what the availability of tilt columns is in your area but to me $100 for a
"basket case" is too much. You can purchase them here in Houston used for $100 assembled. I would keep looking or ask the guy to come down on price. It may end up costing you more money if there are pieces missing. What if you spent $25-50 more for parts then you could have upwards of $150 in it. Not a good deal for me, but maybe for you?

I just bought one on Ebay for $200, totally rebuilt and painted, with the tilt lever included. I agree, do not pay $100 for a possible basket case.
Keep looking! Good luck

Are there any good places to get a tilt steering column for a good price? I have seen few places advertise them, but they arent in stock when u call. Also, when u guys find parts on ebay do u scan through all the car parts? I keep an eye on that page, but I can never seem to find the auctions that are mentioned on this site. Thanks

Okay, on ebay there are 2 listings for parts:
Classic Car Parts:
http://listings.ebay.com/aw/listings/list/category2031/index.html
Car Parts:
http://listings.ebay.com/aw/listings/list/category1256/index.html
They are separate listings and the ads do not crossover.
Cars for sale:
http://listings.ebay.com/aw/listings/list/category1258/index.html
Collector Cars for sale:
http://listings.ebay.com/aw/listings/list/all/category2030/index.html
Make sure you do your own research on a specific part and what it costs. I have seen people buying "ULTRA RARE" (as the seller states) stuff and paying 2-3 times more for it, when they could have bought the same exact part through the GM dealer. I think alot of parts that are NOS and are on there are still available from GM. Just beware of what you are buying.

I found an extra tilt column for my car and I was planning on selling it on eBay. If you're interested give me an email. I'd like to get $150 for it. I haven't got it from the guy yet.
