I just purchased a 68 camaro convertible that used to be a 6 clyinder and now is an 8. Are there any areas that I should be concerned about considering the engine swap? Structural? Mechanical? etc... Also it has the horse shoe shifter / console, was this available with the 6 cylinder? Basically I'm new to the Camaro game and I'm excited to get started with this car.

Welcome aboard.....Be sure to use the "Search Function" on the toolbar above...There have been many threads regarding 6cyl to V8 swaps...and the things that need to be switched out or any issues that you may encounter...
Here's a couple threads I found from a quick search that may help:

BTW, post some pics of your ride when you get a chance....we like pics around this place!
Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. Overall the car needs a lot of fine tuning and attention to detail however I think its a good starting point for my first Camaro. Its a good 10 footer however it has a long way to go to be up to my standards.

Nice looking car. Spend a few hours here on TC searching and reading and you will find the mother lode of info for your car.
One of your first purchases should be a Factory Assembly Manual--it will answer the questions you asked in that it shows how the 6-cyl's were put together. They are $16 at D&R Camaro right now.
