I saw an eBay auction from The Parts Place selling a Polished First Design (stainless), Brushed First Design in (stainless), and a GM replacement Second Design, (material not listed) heat shield.
Would any be correct for 69 b/b. I'm currently running a GM galvanized unit which I think is still available (and technically incorrect)

As a side note, I was bidding on one from Heartbeat that was had a starting bid of $ .99 and was not getting very much bidding . It was "mysteriously" yanked in the waning hours. I emailed Jim and asked him why he yanked the ad. I told him I had seen this happen before when some items were nearing the end, and weren't getting to the price he normally sells at. He told me someone came in and bought it, so he had to close the auction. Of course another was posted a couple of days later with a starting/BIN price of $125.00. It appears to me that his motive was to avoid eBay's reserve charge and to pay minimum eBay fees by it doing that way. Jim claimed he was within eBay's policy, but, if true, is certainly outside the spirit of eBay's policy. Everyone can decide for themselves if they want to deal with the guy.

PS. I have emailed him twice since, with no response.

Actually, it's not really polished and not really brushed! It's just stainless steel in it's natural state. I would have to see both examples to determine which is closest to the original.

Mark, I have the special nut, but for the life of me, I can't see why the General needed one. It appears that a standard nut would work just fine.
