Here is a Z on ebay with some questionable high end:D stampings. Engine stamp is borderline in my book but Im no expert and my eyes are starting to require some reading aids. I am fighting that issue internally because I still have good days. Then again, I may be trying to see what is not there!

Maybe what we are trying to see , is not there? Body numbers did not reset did they? Vin is within time frame. Tag appears to be buffed at top of imprints. I almost would have to look more to draw final conclusion. 78K units above my car. Maybe Kurt or John will chime in.

I think the tag is original.
Engine and trans are not original to this car and trans is an obvious restamp.

I agree on tag, if you look at information available thru CRG , compare, you can see something. As for the tag being visiable, mine is the same way as I got tired of people stooping under hood to view tag, I just buffed top with steel wool. Keep them away from my fenders.

The trans and engine are questionable.

Ditto, I used a fine sand paper on a block

Not likely for myself. I would just close the hood and be done with it.
