I know, it's not "correct" cuz it's not an RS, but I like the chrome trim rings on the parking lights for the 69. So I bought some. So now that I have them, how do they attach? It looked like they just snapped on, but my lenses have "bumps" on the deges that keep the rings from fitting. Are teh RS lenses different? The catalogs show them as being interchangable; RS or regular.
I can file off the bumps, but want to know if that is the right way.
Small details, since you can barely tell the difference, but I kinda like them.
Thanks

The originals snapped on over the bumps just like tail lamp trim but were also cemented. I don't believe the repros fit as well. When the factory used these as standard equipment on RS for a short period the outside circumference of the lens was painted silver.
All 69 lens part numbers (there were 4) interchange.
I liked them also and had them on my last 69.

Use a small set of vise grips with tape in the jaws (to avoid scratches). Place the ring onto the lense and lightly squeeze the sides of the ring onto the lens. This has worked well for me in the past.

A little dab of clear silicone here and there will do wonders.

Thanks. I think I'll need to file down the bumps to get these to fit. The bunps keep the rings from fitting evenly or flush. The curve doesn't work with the bumps there.
Oh well, another project for later. Wouldn't want to run out of projects! http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif
Thanks again.

The "bumps" make room for the adhesive between the inside of the ring and the edge of the lens - I used contact cement (put on both parts, let "tack" for 10-15 minutes first), then press on and tape in place for 24 hours. Worked for me.
