This baby has been a part of my family since GM gave birth to her 18 years ago, and we need help. Camaro RS, V6, Fuel Injection, 5-speed manual, 116xxx miles.

We have replaced MAF, plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor, and computer; timing has been checked and set. She has even been to the GM dealership and they're scratching their heads. Idle - rough, but will run; in order to drive, must rev up to 2500 RPM's before can shift or she will die - it's like riding a bucking bronc (whiplash and all), and back firing at the same time.

Suggestions anyone?

check for a plugged cat, bad cam, burnt valve, vacuum leak...but first of all, change the fuel filter!!!fuel filters contribute to a huge amount of todays drivability issues...especially with the govt screwing around with the gas formulation all the time...

Toni...like Mike said. After you change the fuel filter and if the problem still exists..post some fuel rail pressures if you can.Regulators,in tank pumps and restricted socks are always suspect by your description.

...maybe some streatch, but not giving him the problem he`s explaining...if so, it would have to have jumped time, and would be making a ton of racket...

A big Thank You to everyone that gave us clues. It was the fuel pump. She is running like a top. Again, thank you!!
