I'm trying to find some instructions on how to rebuild my master cylinder. It's on a 69 z. I can't seem to find any details on what to do. I know I need to remove the snap ring in the back, but then what? There's also the set screw in the front chamber...when do I remove it? Any help would be a big help.
Thanks,

Yes, remove the snap ring and the screw. the screw holds the front piston assy in place. When you re-assemble be very careful to compress the front spring and piston before returning the screw.
Check the bore for pitting, if there is any, you need to either replace the MC or get it sleeved if it's an original you want to keep in use.
You can hone the bore if it is a little bad but you can't hone it WAY out or it will be too loose and may leak. Clean the bore and MC with brake clean and let it dry out completely before assembly and lube the parts with brake fluid.

Thanks David, that was very helpful. I was able to rebuild the MC today, get it back on the car, and get the brakes bled with a very nice pedal. Haven't had a chance to officially try it out, but sure seems like night and day.
Thanks again!!!

If u need to rebuild the master, and there is ANY pitting, also do the wheels
The odds are with the improved pressures out of the master, u will blow each of the wheels over several months,,
The last thing u need is a failure when u least need one in an emergency...
Best bet is if need to hone,,,forget it, and get resleeved...
Brakes, take no short cuts...u do. u die
