Sep 10th, 07, 07:37 PM
Planning on being there myself and hoping to break into the 11's as well.......12.30's so far with suspension that is not working worth a cr!p. Planning a couple of changes to the suspension between now and the 23rd that should help the Z get there. If I don't have too much fun maybe I'll give up the Mickeys to you for a couple of runs on the vert Jim :)

Anyone got an extra 830-950 Holley DP which is good shape that I could try out??? Would love to see if the 383 likes some more air flow at the top end.

Jason..............is this strictly a GM organized event or an open TnT?
The T&T is certainly open to anybody Tom. We'd like to have the club outing limited to vintage GM if possible, but understand not everybody's car is running. Track prep should be fantastic as they added the Quick 16 doorslammers bracket a few weeks back for the same day.

Sorry Tom,:( but thanks for asking. :waving:As it is it's hard to even pop in here for a minute or two now and then. I want to try and get get everything done on the new house by the end of the month. In fact I really haven't even had a chance to really look into my low oil pressure problems from the last outing to Byron.

Hey Guys What do I need to make a run I remember about a overflow tube ( I will set that up to run into a ?) I have snowmwobile helmets but they are in wisconsin. Wont have for the event) Jim could I use yours for a run or two? What else do I need to prep for this ? Car is stock 67 vert 350 stick. I just mad a few jet and rod changes last weekend it really purrs nice now, It will be intresting to see how quick it is. BTW this weekend is the classic race @ Road America just south of Green bay, During the lunch break you can run your car on the track, I thought that would be cool too! I also found the entry form and it says somthing about having medical info on file. Any body know more about all that? That kind of track would be a blast.

136679ss
Sep 12th, 07, 08:57 AM
Rules are pretty relaxed for T&T. 13.99 or less requires no helmet in a hardtop 14.99 or less for convertible. You'll need an overflow bottle for coolant. A 16 oz. pepsi bottle works nice for this. Seatbelts (factory lap belts are adequate unless your tuning in the 11's etc.). See you all there!

I am going BUT, after getting the car close to alignment......let me start over. I got the alignment done. Went out the next night, battery dead, brake lights were on, now no brake lights. I am going to troubleshoot on Saturday. Thinking maybe a fuse or in the turn signal area. Will be there for a short time on Sunday cause I am a season ticket holder for DA BEARS and want to see them beat up on Romo.

Would be great if everyone makes it!

Jason............I have a digital camera that can take video as well, does a pretty good job. The memory card gets chewed up pretty quick, maybe a few runs to fill it up but I'll bring the laptop and I can dump them off the camera into the laptop as needed. We can try to get as many as possible.

Looking forward to meeting every on Sunday!

Me too Tom, a 2 Gig card will hold a tremendous amount of video however. Mine does a decent job as well, just figured I'd see if anyone had a dedicated video system which can zoom those distances. I promised Al we'd get photos of everyone with their TC names next to the cars this time too. I don't want to jinx it, but the meteorologists are saying sunny skies for the entire day, little warm but I think we can live with that. I hate how all the bugs show up right before an event. I have to trailer this time and take my chances on getting in a few good passes.

Well, not sure if I will have time to get my car on the dyno to get it tuned before Sunday. Bro-in-law who owns shop is going on vacation on Friday. Either way, I will be coming with car just to meet everyone and watch some good racing. (and grab a GREAT burger)

PS... As of today, mostly sunny, highs in lower 80's according to 2 weather sites.

Well, looks like I will not be running or even bringing the car. Brake lights stil are out and the ordered parts will not be ready for pick-up until Tuesday. I will still be there however. What time does things get started? I am leaving fairly early and will have my truck. If any of you see a white Avalanche, wave me down as this will be my first time there. Still need to leave early as stated before to make the Bears game.

Dave, that's too bad you can't bring the car! The pits open at 9, track at 10.
I have a cub scout campout, and may not arrive till noon. If you have to leave before that, leave the alignment tools with Jason or TomD, if you're done with them.

Per Dick Monaco from Byron the gates open at 8:00am tomorrow so I plan on trying to get there between 8:00 - 8:30...............look for a Tan Dodge Ram quad cab, U-Haul trailer and Midnight Blue Z28. Anyone else planning on early arrival??

Dave, maybe it's not too late to grab a Uhaul trailer like I did. If you have a class 3 hitch on the Avalanche, $50/day for the trailer! You don't need no stinking tail lights for the quarter mile dash!!

JimM.......are you still looking to borrow the Mickeys? What size wheel studs do you have on the vert......7/16 or 1/2??

JimM
Sep 22nd, 07, 09:42 AM
Tom, absolutely, I got 1/2" studs so your regular lugs will work. By all means let's try em and see if they clear the calipers.

I got another dumb idea for traction... I need some stone for landscaping, so I'm off now to load 6 60lb bags of gravel in the trunk. That should help some, eh?

This *&^#% thing should get deep in the 13's if I can get her to hook... 2.3 sec 60's are so annoying I'm considering taking the vette!

bowtie1Z28
Sep 22nd, 07, 10:20 AM
What you gain in 60' you'll prolly give up trying to muscle another 360# down the track, would be like having 2 more riders with ya! But you already know that!

If you opt to bring the vert you are welcome to the Mickeys..........vert or Vette, either way should be a good time!

JimM
Sep 22nd, 07, 11:02 AM
She sure does ride low with 9 bags of gravel in the truck! Doesn't say how much each bag weighs, guessing 40 lbs, don't feel like 60. It's much harder to light em up driving around town tho.

We'll see. If she hooks, I'll "tune" by removing 1 bag at a time!

TazJr800
Sep 22nd, 07, 12:12 PM
Yes, that pic is directly north of fence, right where the entrance to the staging lanes are. Always nice to pull back and park on the pavement, not grass.

I will not be running my car, but I am driving her down with my dad. Coming from rte 173 area, north of Rockford. Leaving around 9:00, arriving around 9:30, if I drive the speed limit. :D

Jim, an inexpensive set of $300 cal tracs will solve ALL your problems with traction. (Or $20 gravel) lol

Weather looks great. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and watching some good racing all day.

See you there.

JimM
Sep 22nd, 07, 12:12 PM
ok, readt to run, washed her, topped off the oil (used 4 oz going to KC and back!) Decided to take 3 bags of gravel out, not riding so low now. :D

Kinda an anticlamatic day. WAY crouded. Waited hours in the staging lanes baking on the blacktop, and only got 2 runs in. First run (6 bags of gravel in the trunk) she hooked up great but then bogged pretty hard, 14.3 @ 96... Second run I took 2 bags of gravel out, staged and when I took my foot off the brake, she rolled thru the beams. Got PO'd at the big red light and smoked the tires all the way thru first.... Didn't get another run, tho did wait in the staging lanes for a hour and a half before giving up.

I think 5 bags of gravel and leaving at 3k instead of 2300 woulda gotten me a 13.

Met some new Team Camaro Friends and hooked up with some old friends, so that's always good. Mike, saw your red 67, don't think I saw you tho. Jim, you get the long distance award, all the way from Florida. Tom D. gets the hard luck award, lunched his clutch before I even got there. Jay, thanks for joining me, next time bring your own car!

But I'm still looking for everyone else that said they were coming. Oh well.

VERY hot day watching the drags. Weather man was off again. Nice cars (all 300 of them). Saw a couple 6 second passes, one at 204 MPH.

Then saw my car damn near overheat in a traffic backup on way home. She only got to 250 ! LOL

Hope to see more guys next time, unless we set up a dyno day before that.

I was there. Arrived at the track around 11:45 AM. I wandered through the throngs of people looking for the Team Camaro folks for quite some time. Not knowing anyone ahead of time made it quite difficult to know who to look for (or where to look for them). So I looked for Camaros at the track and sought out the owners to ask if they were with the "Team Camaro" (I was 0 for 3). So I spent my time helping a friend tune his drag bike.

Bummer, sorry to have missed the opportunity to meet you guys, maybe next time. Of course any day at the race track is a good day:)
