Mine was getting what sounded like a gear whine. When I changed tires and got rid of the hard F1 Eagles, the noise went away.

My '02 started making a little noise recently. I pulled it apart last night to find a bad axle. It's pitted badly where the bearing runs. No ill effects were obvious, but the low growling noise wasn't normal. The more I read, this tends to be a problem with these cars. Mine has 87000 miles, and I ended up changing all of the bearings in the rearend. Waiting on a used axle Monday.

I had mine completely rebuilt by a chevy dealer with new everything. It was fine for awhile but over time its getting the gear whine louder and louder. Not really happy with the situation. I will drive it until it tears up again. The cars only has 22,000 miles.

Getting rid of the F1's is the best thing I did for my car. I went with BFGoodrich KDW's. It's a phenomenal tire for the price. (It should be pointed out not to confuse the tire with the KDWS.)
Better tread wear, traction, and appearance from the F1's. Much cheaper as well.

I will check the those tires out when I get new ones ! Thanks. Does it ride better?

The over all ride seems very similar, although the KDW has a slightly more rigid sidewall. I think it makes the tire a little more responsive.

67sprtcp: I went with Sumitumo tires from Tirerack.com. $88 each. Handles a lot better as well as better grip on acceleration.

Thanks, that is a great price. I have been looking at bfg tires on the tire rack site.
