View Full Version : Radiator support filler panels
cdunson Jul 29th, 07, 06:44 PM I came upon these and thought they were cool and very cheap in comparison to a similar one available through Detroit Speed. Cool stuff. I ordered a polished filler panel and a cowl hood grill. I'll try to remember to let you know how they come out.

Rhino Jul 30th, 07, 08:45 AM I'd be very interested to see the finished product. For the price, this seems like something I'll be ordering very shortly.
DjD Jul 30th, 07, 08:52 AM There are dozens here already using them. You can partically see mine in this shot...

cdunson Jul 30th, 07, 08:57 AM How's the fit? Is there enough pressue under the header panel to keep it tight without rattling ect?
AJSZR2326 Jul 30th, 07, 09:29 AM just ordered one in black, thx for the link

Thinking about ordering one of these as well. But I would like to hear someone answer this previously asked question. Anybody using this panel have any fitment problems or rattling problems?
2x67rs/ss Jul 30th, 07, 08:10 PM Ordered mine on e-bay for the hotrod and if it does rattle I cant hear it over the 4" exhaust. But it fits tight enough I dont think it would be a issue.
69X11Camaro Jul 30th, 07, 08:24 PM That looks SWEET...When and IF I ever get to the point of needing one, I will get one. First I need something to put it on.

From bumper bolt to bumper bolt it fit perfect. I have about 1/16" on one end between the panel and my pass fender and on the driver side ot buts up against the fender edge perfect. Since the mounting holes are right on I have to say my fender - fan shroud are a little off even though it doesn't show anywhere else...
As for rattling there isn't any even though it just rests in place except for the 2 ends...
l1tech Aug 1st, 07, 06:52 AM I have one of these and like the look however I had to open up the mounting holes to get it to bolt up properly.
DonA Aug 1st, 07, 04:17 PM Just a note, make sure your upper hood latch bolt does not rest on the panel or you will have an ugly little scar. It happened on mine and also a friend was showing what he just put on his and when he raised his hood he had the same mark as mine. It may not be an issue for any but better safe than sorry. Mine is black and his was aluminum finish. I just ordered a polished one to replace mine. It seems to help on cooling also.

2x67rs/ss Aug 1st, 07, 08:28 PM Mine has one of those "scars" too.
Rich-Allen Aug 2nd, 07, 07:08 AM Give Matts classic bowties (http://mattsclassicbowties.com/index.html?lmd=39287.688391) a call. They have 10 or so different kinds hanging on the wall. Matt's camaro has on with his company name engraved with silver lettering. Pretty cool.
They can order one with what ever you want engraved.

skeeters65 Aug 2nd, 07, 11:12 AM I didnt see just a plain one that you can paint yourself..

DonA Aug 2nd, 07, 11:48 AM If I am not mistaken, the undercover innovations will do a custom job.

I have seen them offer plain ones on ebay but there is no reason you couldn't paint one like I put on mine... It's the plain anodized model as seen in the picture in my previous post...
Chevy Chase Aug 3rd, 07, 09:06 PM Lotta bang for the buck! Just installed the anodized black with ball machined bowties and what a difference when the hood is up. "WOW Factor" with this easy bolt on. Should grind top hood latch rear bolts edge down a wee bit so panel isn't accidently scarred as panel may buffet as you approach highway speeds.
skeeters65 Aug 7th, 07, 11:17 AM do you have to order on line or do they have a phone number??
Thanks

I am an idiot..
Didnt see that..
Thanks
cdunson Aug 21st, 07, 12:22 PM I wound up with a "scar" on mine from the right rear bolt on the hood latch. I was thinking I would buy some edging of some sort to go around the hole in the panel. This would hide my scar and maybe finish it off. Anyone have any suggestions for panel edging? Kind of like a door edge guard material but for this thin piece of aluminum.
67CamaroRS/SS Oct 2nd, 07, 06:58 AM I ordered both the upper and lower panels for my 67. I got the plain black annodized for the top and they only offered the silver finish for the bottom. I haven't gotten around to installing the bottom yet, but the top was the easiest thing I have ever installed and the cooling improvement is great.

RobR Oct 6th, 07, 05:42 PM Now you need to paint your radiator support to match. I bought the natural aluminum one and kinda wish I got the black one. I think I will paint it. I want to find a "Camaro" script sticker that I can put on it too, that would look nice.
