Hey everyone. I am in a bit of a quandry. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the product used to clean white convertible tops. I believe it is put out by Mequires or Mothers but I may be wrong. I have a friend with a C4 vette and she is starting to notice some dirty spots on the top from the oils in her hands. Can some one point me in the right direction?

Anybody? Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?

I use the same vinyl and leather cleaner that I use in the interior and then follow with the protectant/conditioner made by the same company. I will post back tonight with the name. I have also used a spray foam cleaner but it requires rinsing and don't hose off the '69 very often...

I got a plastic brissle brush (looks like a big tooth brush) and it gets into the grain well!!

I have used Bleche-White (it's the same stuff you spray on to clean white wall tires) and it works very well. Buy a plastic brush like you do dishes with, spray on the Bleche-White a section at a time and scrub it well with the brush. It turned my gray top into nice bright white and removed almost all the stains. I would think this product is available at nearly every Checkers, Shucks etc.

You may try calling Griot's Garage, they sell excellant products for the car guy(www.griot'sgarage) Also try Formula 303 this company makes cleaners and protctors for vinyl. You may also try a boating supply house, boats usually have lots of vinyl on board. Good luck!!!!!

Hey Denver, Watch out for the Bleach-White. It is acidic and will dry rot your vinyl. I highly suggest using only proper cleaners for vinyl/leather. (BTW I am speaking from personal experience as well as seeing others make the same mistake I did many moons ago)

I just got in from looking at Blech-White. It states to avoid contact with chrome, alum, paint, glass and stainless... I stopped reading right there!! I did find that the Blue Magic I have been using makes a convertible top cleaner and conditioner as well as the vinyl and leather products I have been using!! I'll let ya know how it works later!! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

I also have a white top that is a bit mildewed. I'm concerend about the stitching and vinyl deteriorating if I were to use something like Bleche-White.Are there any safe whiteners? A VERY long time ago, I redyed the white top on my 58 Impala. It came out beautiful but the top shrank up a little, making it difficult to latch it closed. I believe even with a bristle brush, my top will be somewhat grayish in places.
