I bought mine at Grainger - Phantom Part #1N791 for $203.30. It works as advertised and is comfortable to wear. The only real feature I saw dictating price was "screen size". This one is 4 1/2" X 5 1/4". I like it, but I'm a hobbiest so I don't use it a lot.

Once you use one, you will wonder why you didnt buy one years ago, there great. I think that there all basically the same, the only thing that you need to look for are the replacement of the batteries and shield.

Make sure you get one with the adjustable sensitivity. The first models didn't have that. I had the problem when welding on a car where the sensor got shaded. Started the arc and http://www.camaros.net/forum/eek.gif. With the adjustable models you can control the brightness of light needed to trigger the darkening.

Speedglass makes a good affordable one. About $135 on sale.

I have used ( just have to check the latest "toy" in the shop) the auto darkening and I didn't like it a bit. It is too dark to begin with at about a number four shade, you can't see a dang thing. And I had them NOT darken. I do have a Cherokee Welding helmet (they have a web site) that is chin operated, yes you ooen the shade by opening your mouth! It is a large 4"x6" or so lens and when it is up you have a grinding helmet! It is very easy to get used to, I have sold a bunch of them because every time someone sees me welding they can't believe their eyes. And after they try it they "HAVE" to have one. They are only $89.00 on the web site. I have had mine for about tens years using it every day, without failure. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif
