View Full Version : shock angle?

I'm putting in an adjustable 4 link with air bags. Those big bags don't give me much room for shock mounting. The best location I can figure out on the axle end is on the bottom of the link bracket. To clear the airbags the shocks need to be at almost a 45 degree angle back. Is this too much? Sounds like a lot to me. Also what valving do I want? I would guess that I would want a softer valving because I an having to mount the shocks at such an angle. My guess is for valving is 3 compression, 5 rebound in a bistein shock. This sound about right?

Not sure how much, but you will want harder shocks. Possibly twice as hard at 45 degrees.
Your axle will move 1" to the shock's ~1/2". That's a 2:1 advantage your axle will have over the shocks.
Don't go softer.
