View Full Version : 10.5 slick on 8 inch rim????? ericsz Aug 2nd, 07, 09:57 AM Will it work or not??? DOUG G Aug 2nd, 07, 10:55 AM Should be ok. Follow the Mfg.'s instructions, usually only +/- 1" tread Vs. wheels widths. ericsz Aug 2nd, 07, 11:07 AM I knew that, if that is the case then it wouldnt be ok then, 10 inches of tread width and only 8 inches of wheel. I just didnt know if anyone has tried it to see if the 10.5 was better than the 9 inch tire on the 8 inch wheel... wiskeesour Aug 2nd, 07, 11:08 AM I have seen vehicles have alot of wall 'walk' (aka wiggle) when launching. BE CAREFUL. Everett#2390 Aug 2nd, 07, 12:42 PM Ten inch slick will work on an 8 inch rim, but as said, you'll have to run enough air pressure to prevent sidewall flexing at the big end. Also, with a smaller width rim than tire tread width, the slick will grow in diameter considerably, moreso than if slick was mounted on a 10 inch rim. 68rs406 Aug 2nd, 07, 11:38 PM It will probably end up "crowning" in the middle from being tight on the rim, and you'll lose contact patch, you may be better with a 9" tire. I know guys running 9's on a 9" tire easily, are you having traction problems of some kind? Everett#2390 Aug 3rd, 07, 05:09 AM It will probably end up "crowning" in the middle from being tight on the rim, That's the term I was trying to remember - "crowning" Thanks, Sean! .gearhead. Aug 3rd, 07, 07:30 AM I have a 12.5" tire on an 8" wheel. Zero problems. Jim hhott71 Aug 3rd, 07, 07:53 AM 10.5 x 28 - 15's work fine on an 8" rim at 13-16 psi depending on your chassis, weight, power level etc. |
