Got a 69 rs-z that was painted a long time before I bought the car. It's hugger orange instead of factory daytona yellow with two black stripes. On the rear section where the taillights are it is painted black. Is this correct? I saw one in a hot rod book that was painted orange instead of black. That car also had a chrome piece on top of each fender that I assume has a light in it that flashes toward the driver in conjunction with that side turn signal. My car doesn't have that. Was that an option, supposed to be with the rs package or did the owner add it?
I really haven't noticed it on any others.

Only cars with Black tail panels are big block SS's. A Z28 should have the tail panel body colored.
The chrome housing on the fenders is for the Vigilite light monitoring system. They are connected to the front directionals and headlight housings with fiber optic cables. Should also be a monitor on the rear package tray for the tail, brake and blinkers. Fairly rare option.

Is that true in 68 too with the black panel?

Black tail Panels are used on all big block SS's in 67, 68, and 69. There were certain dark colors (like black) that didn't get this treatment.
