I can't remember which dealer classic or ricks etc... that I saw offered fan clutches with different lenght shafts? or did I dream it all? :beers: I need to get my fan deeper into the shroud by at least a half an inch to an inch

I recently went with a Hayden #2507 fan clutch for the short waterpump small block in my ’67. The installed height is 2.03”.

so that measurement is from clutch mounting surface to fan mounting surface.

I checked hayden's list and measured my mounting surfaces length, it checks out to be the same at 1.75 but I still have the problem of the fan not being in the shroud. The front of the fan lines up level with the start or the shroud. I figure it has to go in at least 1 more inch. What is not correct here?

Looks like you have a 69 BB shroud on the radiator, There is a difference in the depth of the 67/68 and 69 shrouds, and its about an inch.

I never thought of that, it was one of the first things I ordered when I started restoring the engine compartment. I was very novice at the time even though it was only a year and a half ago. I have learned alot from being part of this forum since then.

Should I just measure the depth at the top of the shroud where it bolts up?

69' lists at 1 5/8" deep

67-68 lists at 2 3/4" deep

Let me know what you think of this measurement, it could solve my overheating problem.

What fan blade are you using farm boy ?It's a Hayden #3618 18 inch blade.

Thanks, I just bought a flexalite steel clutch fan from summit. Yours looks like its a little more into the shroud than mine. I also just put a hayden 2724 hd clutch on.:yes:
