Thanks fotoboy Aug 5th, 07, 02:19 PM most everthing but the throttle body (vette is drive by wire) BA. Aug 5th, 07, 03:31 PM Don't forget that the Vette has different accessory brackets. (right?, or is that just LS2?) skeeters65 Aug 5th, 07, 04:07 PM I guess my question was not if the parts are interchangable but are aftermarket parts the same.. Should I bother looking at one for my 69 or am I better off with a Camaro or Vette? THanks BonzoHansen Aug 5th, 07, 08:24 PM www.ls1tech.com I thought camaro & firebird are same. Vette will have acc differences, oil pan maybe too? CarlC Aug 5th, 07, 09:28 PM F-body accessory drives are the same across brands. Corvette accessory drive is different, but shorter than F-body and has the alternator in a more traditional location. Rodder Aug 6th, 07, 11:15 PM F-body accessory drives are the same across brands. Corvette accessory drive is different, but shorter than F-body and has the alternator in a more traditional location. Wiring, PCM, mounts, etc are all identical too between the two F-bodies (for the same year model). The only difference between an LS1 Camaro drivetrain and an LS1 TransAm drivetrain is the VIN. The aftermarket parts such as heads, cam, intake, headers, etc interchange among all of the GenIII smallblocks (4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0). The only gotcha I can think of is for truck people, since the F-body/Vette style intake manifolds won't clear the belt tensioner on the truck accessory brackets. The harmonic balancer (with integral crank pulley) needs to match the accessory brackets you use. The F-body LS1's seem to be a lot more popular for swaps than Vette LS1's. I think that's because they're more plentiful, and because people are buying the engine+trans together--the Vette trans is mounted at the axle which makes it undesirable for most swaps (unless you are back-halfing the car with the Vette IRS). |
