if you dont want to go to solid. need to get pics of my car what the guy did back in the 70s. there has to be another way now lol.ill try to explain now. on the front frame(in front of the motor) he welded a thick piece of metal on there it went to below front of engine to threaded bolts in engine.used another piece of metal bolted to engine in L shape. than in between used rad support bushings but bigger washers so as if motor mounts broke and those front bushings went the washer hits the bar and wont go through.to twist motor up. that must of been before solis mounts i guess lol. and i know you going to ask me no i didnt put them back on. unless i keep breaking mounts lol.

"back in the day" many our cars were recalled because the rubber motor mounts were separating. The initial bandaid fix was a limiter strap that tied the engine to the a-arm crosshaft. I believe these are reproduced. I've certainly seen a number of brand new looking ones on various cars.

Remove you rubber motor mounts and drill a 3/8" hole through them. Then 45 degree countersink, I wanna say the bottom and just use a 45 degree flat-headed bolt and stuff to bolt them so they can't rip apart.

That's how I did mine before GM sent their motor mount recall letter out AFTER they ripped apart.

why not just buy the mounts that have the safety catch on them then theres no need for a ugly strap, as jim said those cables that hooked to the a-arm are on ebay all the time nos

Hey guys, I am going to give the engine mounts from Energy Suspension a try. They told me today that they should work out fine.
