Bought a rebuilt wiper motor with washer pump off e-bay for my 67 several months ago. Finally got electrical buttoned up. Washer pump runs all the time, and every few seconds makes a noticable clunk. Would a bad wiper switch cause it to keep running, or could it be in the motor/pump someplace?

its in the washer part off the pump.when you take it apart theres a o-ring or something in there been about 5 years that i did one. that stops the wipers from turning after it stops pumping fluid on windshield.

Or the plastic cam inside has the stop part worn or broken off.

ml now i look at you post again. did you just get car back together? when you put the wiper motor switch back in did you use the star washer before you put switch through dash?you may have a bad ground there.

Star washer???....... I have complete pump assembly off now, trying to figure what makes it tick. Shouldn't a spring be holding tension on the piece that catches plastic cam teeth?
