I have a 1987 camaro with the factory 2.8 the flexplate busted the center out of it:mad: We went to the local parts house and got a flexplate for a 1987 2.8 and it is the wrong one:mad:. tehy looked at one for a 1988 an they tell us is the right one but they have to order it:( what i want to know is did the 1987 and 1988 2.8's change that much in just one year

without my book in hand. thats about the year they went from a 2 piece rear main to a 1 piece rear main.both wont bolt too each others crank. hole diameter inside is a giving fact.

But the one they give me was about 2 inchestoo big overall diameter and the bellhousing size didnt change that much did it?

Return it based on they got you the incorrect part. Get the vin off your car, call or go by GM dealer and give vin to them and ask for same part. If they dont have it, get the part # and you can order cheaper from GMPartsdirect.com.

not sure what year,but somewhere in mid 80,s they went from internal to external balance.or vice versa.wrong flexplate will give it a horrible vibration.friend of mine just went thru this with a 2.8 S10 pickup.flexplate must match year of engine.hope this helps.

than your bell housing bolts are 18 mm . that flywheel is much smaller than the bell with 9/16 head bolts.

o.k. so i found the flexplate i had to get it for a 1988 cause of the one peice crank seal. Now my question is the old one was broke and spun all the way around god only knows how many times, so is there a certain location for the weights to be when i install the new one
