well I already bought the tires Nitto NT01's so I have to make it work, what is going to be the best for backspace? should I go 4.75 or even more?

Unless you can find someone here with the exact same tires and wheels, it's going to be hard. You are just going to have to measure with a stock wheel and tire combo or something else. The backs are easier because they don't turn. It's the "lock to lock" you have to watch out for so they don't rub when turning and turning when hitting a bump. To just order wheels and guessing a backspace like 4.75 can get expensive. I think the best thing to do is take one of the tires to a local tire shop and have them mount the tire on some kind of a 17" inch wheel. Then you can see based on what that backspace is, whether to add or subtract some. Good luck!!!

I got a very slight rub on the subframe at full lock with 235/45-17 and 4.75 BS. 245 is a bit wider. I think it's better to have a bit too much backspace - you can adjust outward with wheel spacers. Obviously, you can't go the other direction. That's a lot of tire to fit in the front on a 69, esp if the car is lowered, although it's been done

At all cost, avoid wheel spacers. They are scary on back at best. I would NEVER run them on the front. As the great Chris Rock once said "sure you can drive a car with your feet.....but that doesn't make it a good idea"!!

Spacers put the load of the car on a part of the lug stud that wasn't designed to hold the weight. You need to be flush against the hubs with your wheels to be safe.

I am running 235/45/17 mounted on 17x8 rims with 4.875" BS up front, and in the back I am running 275/40/17 mounted on 17x9.5 with 5.5" BS as recommended by DSE.

they will be on 8 inch wheels, and right now the car has 245 60 14 on it and there is no rub whatsoever, but the wheels are probably 7inch, so right now I am thinking at least 4.75 maybe even 4.875, anyone else have any insight?

I've run a 4.75"-5" backspace for the past couple of years on the front of first gens and the best fitment if you are in fact going custom built 2pc or 3pc wheel is a 4.875", or 5" with a 245 wide tire.

I still need to get it aligned as there is quite a bit of POS camber. But it fits with a little rub right now. I have no idea what the caster is.

Well centerline will only backspace 4.5 or 5

Well I decided to go with Budniks, for less 300$ more it seems like a pretty good deal.

For what it's worth,I run 255/45-17's on a 8" wide wheel on the front of my '69 Z/28 with 4.75" b/s and my car is slammed low...23.5" from center of wheelwell to the ground and no issues.If your suspension is set on "kill" like mine,no clearance problems...
