I'm installing a new harness in my 68 Camaro and need some help with the wiper motor.....I understand that the motor itself has the power to it and the switch actually feeds a ground which makes it run. There are 3 wires coming off of my switch and when I get to the wiper motor there are 3 male fittings. I'm not interested in the washer part of the motor...Can someone tell me where the actual power wire attaches to the wiper motor. Thanks,Tim

This has been discussed a few times. A search of this forum for wiper test gives a lot of info.

That's exactly what I needed. I had searched but somehow missed that one...Thanks....Now how about the instrument cluster schematic????(Standard-no tach-just speedo, gas gauge and idiot lights)

Tim,

I just sent you the wiring diagrams that I had, but I was thinking you had a 67. (My first assumption is that everyone has a 67). They are probably close. I think the wiper diagram is the same.

I got the diagrams from jaguareats@aol.com, who posted back in january that he had diagrams. I asked for wipers and lights, he sent me everything! Awesome!

Maybe you could shoot him an email and ask if he has 68 diagrams, or whether they are the same as 67.

Kevin when I hook-up my 68 wiper motor the way your diagram shows, I get low speed when both black and Light blue wires are grounded. When just the Light blue is grounded I get High speed. So something is a miss!!! I have a bad switch so I had to just connect the jumpers one at a time (or together) to get my results. Then I had to reconnect them to the switch to get the park position to stop. waiting till tommorrow to get a new switch and try again.

Now I have the AAW classic update installed in the car they wire it differently they have the hot lead and the light blue swapped, so who is right on the 68 setup ??

Not completely sure if 69s are the same as 68s. the motor is the same. Why dont you wait until you get the switch and post what you found.

I looked at my friends 68 and his hot lead is the way AAW had me wire mine. Now I'm questioning the motor which is a rebuilt from NAPA (RAYLOK), I have two motors from them and the wiring only works as per your hook-up. If I hook-up the way AAW and my friends is wired the charger doesn't like it and things get hot !!! I'm wondering if they are rebuilting them incorrectly, they have a web site, but all it says is "Coming Soon".

I'll check the hook-up tommorrow if I find a switch, which I feel is pertty good.

I'll send results then

Kevin I found a drawing of a 68 and 69 wiper motor terminal connection and wire combinations (for low and high speed) at the following site http://www.ecklerscamaro.com/product.asp?pf%5Fid=727097&dept%5Fid=1161

then click on Illustration to get terminal uses

this lines up with my findings and tells me that the rebuilt motors that I bought at NAPA are wired correctly, but why does AAW diagram show the hot lead on the center terminal??and why is my friends 68 wired with the hot lead on the center terminal?? Was there a time that these rebuilt motors changed terminal locations?? Once I get my switch I get back with a complete list of findings

rewired power to wiper motor so that the power is now on the top terminal, installed rebuilt switch and guess what it works just as if it were new.

So here are my results: when using AAW classic update wiring kit I had to rewire the wiper motor so that the hot lead was on the top terminal and the high speed wire (light blue) was on the middle terminal (just like your hook-up) to get low speed to work the light blue and the black had to short to ground, and then to get high speed only the light blue needed to be shorted. thats a little different from your hook-up, but I'm back up and ready to go.

This windshield wiper motor wiring is really making me feel stupid. I've wired virtually the entire car with no problems but this thing................

I've been checking the various threads on this site and tried several different things. The closest I can get to an operating wiper motor is a "click" when I turn it on. I went to the Ecklers website http://www.ecklerscamaro.com/product.asp?pf%5Fid=727096&dept%5Fid=1161
My wiper motor looks basically the same as this with one difference; my wiper motor has 4 terminals, not 3. The terminal for the yellow wire has 2 connection terminals. I've tried several different wiring configurations to the switch.

I've noticed that the wiper motor seems to give more people trouble than most other electrical components. Why is that??????????????
