I'm currently running a Unilite distributor- with the big black coil and what look like 2 ballast resistors!...plus I have an MSD6AL/ tach adapter and soft touch rev control. (396 big block).

I'm about to upgrade to a rebuilt 454 with new MSD pro billet dizzy- 85551 and keep the MSD 6- and use an MSD coil.

Will I need to keep a ballast resistor for this setup- and do I need the tach adapter at all? (I have an autometer monster tach installed and working with the current setup).

Thanks for any help!

I'm running a MSD-6al with & MSD pro dist, on a 540. I didn't need the resitor in line because the MSD requires a full 12v and controls the coil & dist with the control box. If you need more info post a question with MSD about your set up they will reply with any comments direct to your application. And your tack has it's own trigger wire off the MSD 6al
