View Full Version : Pinks in KC
big mike Aug 11th, 07, 11:39 PM Just got home from the second night of Pinks in KC. All in all it was a pretty good time. The only bad thing was some guy from LS1tech.com named ProStockJohn from Chicago was supposed to be there with a 2000 Z. My nephew is a big fourth gen guy so he flew here to see the show. ProStockJohn was a no show. He's claiming onthe LS1tech website that he was here and the car he had agreed to race showed up as an 8 second Mustang. We were there for the entire show Friday and Saturday, and there were NO Mustangs that could even dream about being an 8 second car. :beers:to the guys from Virgina with the black Malibu. They saved the night for Pinks. I don't blame a guy for not wanting to risk his car on something like this, but if your not going to do it, don't make the commitment in the first place. Mike. :beers::beers:

Yes the Malibu won. Black 79 Malibu sponsered by Westend Motors. This car was a beast. They didn't back down from anyone. They actually ended up taking home two extra cars, the first one was the so called 8 second Mustang, the other was a 73 or 74 Nova from a local KC guy who stepped up just to keep the show going. Mike. :beers::beers:
big mike Aug 12th, 07, 01:46 PM Those LS1tech guys are some potty mouths. I'm glad this site is mucher cleaner. Apparently anything goes over there. They sure don't have any shortage of excuses for why they chickened out against a piece of junk Mustang. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=765524 Mike. :beers::beers:
2x67rs/ss Aug 12th, 07, 03:43 PM Mike I would have looked you up to say hi if I had known you were there! From what I heard Fri. night was when the mustang and camaro were supposed to race but the camaro guys chickened out and left. The Malibu kicked butt and never even opened his hood between rounds Awsome car.
Brackneyc Aug 12th, 07, 05:18 PM I have tried to watch that show. No offense to anyone that likes it, but I can harldy remember a lamer show having been on TV. The racers look like morons, and the commercial breaks make me switch to something...anything better, which is anything else on at theat moment.
Sorry guys, but I think it makes racers look stupid, and I know many racers, and very few are like what I see on that show.

I've always admired the the work that SoCal Speed shop puts out but that show "Hard Shine" is about the lamest (sp) show that's been on in a while. Anybody remember a car show where there's been crying? It's worst than the "Cannonball" show that Bill Goldberg did.
Lord, bring back "Monster Garage".
Hatman Aug 12th, 07, 08:31 PM I think the best "Pinks" was at Topeka when Whats his name starter wiped out on a motercycle in front of everybody inc. the camara and no he wasn't wearing a helmet.

According to my nephew (who flew 1600 miles to go to the show with me), the 2000 Z from LS1tech was supposed to race the Mustang that the Malibu ate on Saturday. You were there, did that Mustang look like an 8 second car to you? The girls at LStech say it was. So they loaded there car back on the trailer, bought some Midol wine coolers and headed back to "Chi Town". The guys from Virginia were a total class act. They were worth the price of admission. I'll be at Camaro Fest. Red/Red 68 SS. See ya there. Mike. :beers::beers:
South Side Goons & Hitmen Aug 12th, 07, 11:23 PM I just read the thread at LS1tech. Basically their 10.5 sec 2000 Z28 was supposed to race SVT's 2000 Mustang that ran the same time....Apparently the original 2000 Mustang could not make it. Then some 1987 Mustang wanted to race. This Mustang claimed it was an 8.80 car on the bottle & 10.20 on engine...And The Mustang would not show anyone the car. Apparently a $20 grand bet was turned down.
From what I read LS1 tech wanted to race a similar car of similar value and whne some Mustang claimed it ran 8.80 they said no. I don't blame them. This is what I read on the Forum-----so far it's 14 pages long....http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=765524&page=14&pp=20
FWIW----The Super Chevy show today in Joliet, IL was cool!! I took my son who's 7, my neice who is 6 (it was her first time) and my nephew who is 8. My son & nephew went last year.

We were there both nights. There wasn't an 8 second Mustang anywhere near KCIR. The Mustang in question was a POS and the Malibu from Virginia ate its lunch. If the LS1tech car was a fraction of what they claimed, the Mustang would be in Chicago right now. Mike. :beers::beers:

haha funny you should mention that!..i also watch that show..i think just about every episode has some kind of drama where she is crying..i think they all build some sweet rides..i also don't understand why there is so much drama with her..if someone is showing you the right way on how to grind or weld something then why get upset and feel left out? come on now..he is showing these future builders on how to build cars..why not learn instead of going out side and crying about it?
2x67rs/ss Aug 13th, 07, 08:23 PM Mike they were saying that the mustang runs 10.50 on motor and the malibu was a 10.50 car.For that mustang to have ran 8's he would have to use ALOT of spay and they blew up the motor without spray! I had to laugh when the balancer fell apart on the last pass doing the burn out that may have been what actually finished the motor off. I wont be able to make it to the dustbowl due to racing that day I may try to come out Fri night for the BBQ but havent rsvp'd yet.
