Hi guys. Looking for a horsepower increase in my car. It has run 8 sec flat at 87 mph in the 1/8, looking for more. I have read that going to the electric water pump and fans can free up a significant amount of horsepower. Need suggestions on the best electric pump for my application, and what fans to use with the stock radiator. Do I use one or two fans, and how do they attach. Will the electric water pump hold up welll on the street? All input appreciated.

what do you consider 'significant' increase? those fans and pumps aren't cheap. nitrous would be cheaper for alot more horsepower. as for the electric pump on the street, when it goes out, you'll have to pull over immediately. it's like throwing a belt that you can't quickly fix or replace. is your alternator up for the 30-50 amp draw at idle? just my 2 cents...

I would steer away from the electric water pump, but the electric fan is a plus. Unfortunately though, unless you know how to fabricate, I haven't found a way to attach an electric fan to an OEM radiator besides the stems that stick thru the radiator core. If you were to switch to a BeCool aluminum radiator you would not only get much better cooling, they make brackets that attach on the top and the bottom of the radiator for a nice look. The core stems are ok and I had them in my OEM rad until I went with a BeCool. One other thing, with an electric fan you will need a shroud. I didn't think this at first and if you call BeCool the guy I talked to will tell you that they think shrouds cause air cavitation if you use a shroud, but I have experienced much better cooling with my Flex-A-Lite model # FLE-180 and BeCool radiator #62009-Automatic Natural and #60009-Manual Natural or #61009-Manual Polished. They make kits that come with the fan and relays, but I went with the Flex-A-Lite fan and I love it.
