Got a friend that just became a first gen owner.....I am pretty sure he will keep the stock springs in the stock locations, but he is wondering if 18 inch wheels with low profile tires will work out back and if 17's will work up front.....just curious if anyone has tried any combos with these wheel sizes, and about how wide can he go?

Anything is possible. Use the search feature here. You'll find that a tire about 25.5-26" tall will work. A 275 in the back is stretching it, and so is a 245 up front.
I have 18s on all 4 corners of my car. I like the look. 245/40 in front and a 275/35 in the rear.
