Does anybody have the outside repro mirrors (68-69, rectangular? How do they compare to the original in size,shape , mounting technique... I know sometimes the chrome on repro isn't the best, but I also know that sometimes repro stuff doesn't always follow the original in form and fit ( ie wheel opening moldings!!) A source would be good from the happy customers ;)

I have a pair of repops that I bought several years ago. I do not know if they are imports or US made repops. I also have a current GM one, but don't know if it is like the original, but I compared it to a "swap meet" original, that supposedly came off a 69 Chevelle. The two GM ones are identical, except that the bullet portion on the old one is convex (bullet shaped) and the later one is concave.

The only differences I can see between the later GM and the repop are
1. The GM base has a ridge up the back of the "spine" the repop is smooth.
2. The mirror on the GM one is recessed a little more than the repop.
3. The base is about 1/16" shorter on the repop than the GM one.

I tried the mounting bracket, and all three will work just fine.
