On the second week of August the city of Kittitas, Wa. host a small car show and burnout contest. The burnouts start on main street and go one full block but no high speeds or donuts. Each year the burnouts get bigger and this year they changed to 4 classes, Beginner, Truck, Off road and pro class. The people that run it are great and take extra precautions for safety and fun. This year my 18 year old son tried it in his pickup but got DQed for crossing the center line, the gray primer pickup is his. This year there was about 20 cars and trucks entered in the burnouts but the local paper didn't take pictures of all.

I think it's cool when a city supports an event like this but I fear as more people start getting hurt or killed there will be less and less of it. Looking at the 1st pic there were no barriers between the onlookers and spectators. There have been several events like this one this year where things went wrong. An example is the Napa Monster Truck that injured 9. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-monster10aug10,1,6450446.story?coll=la-headlines-nation

I'm not against this stuff, I just think organizers need to go that extra step or as more get hurt less events like this will be happening... When setting up an event like this the organizors should look at the precautions taken at real drag strips as well as street races like the San Jose and Long Beach GP's...

Not trying to put a damper on this, looks like it was a fun time...
