hey camaros buddies,

i know nothing about bikes....my freinds bike a 1985 honda V65 has very hot charging wires!!!

the bike has a rectifier unit with a heat sink mounted outside. he measures 13v dc at the batt...good right?
but.... he has 26 v a/c also at the batt..

is this a bad thing?

di you think the rectifier is bad?

can this toast a battery?

I think the rectifier is bad. if you unplug it, you can check it with an ohmmeter Each diode should show about low resistance one way, reverse the leads should show infinity.

Measure in Direct Current (DC) not Alternating Current (AC).

Yes, there is always an AC element on the DC. The only pure DC is directly from a battery.

Alot of m/c manf's use the battery as a regulator/load/filter.
