I'm putting in those new repro high and low note horns and can't figure exactly where they go. The assy manual is cryptic at best and the service manual makes little mention of them. I've also found very few pics - forward of the radiator.

Anyone have a good picture or description?

There are lots of holes in the radiator support areas to choose from but I want to get them as close as possible to the orig locations.

My car is a Non-RS, 350, Convertible

Thanks,
Dave

if you put the wires back in the front of the car. both horns as on mine a 67 and a friends 69. they left and right on the hood catch support.in chassis manual it better shows you them.

RS models mount the horns in the center like that, to clear the headlight doors.

Standard cars mount them on the drivers side, one bove the other, like this:

Thanks for the detail and pic. Are those the original locations? I do not have holes in my radiator support there nor do my orig or repro brackets look like those. My radiator support is original.

Thanks again,
Dave

Okay... so I figured out the factory locations..... The high note horn mounts where the left headlight bucket attaches to the firewall. You will see a large and small hole that matches the bracket. The low note horn attaches to the upper portion of the radiator support just above the voltage regulator.

The repro brackets were incorrect and required bending the mounting tab 180 degrees on the high note bracket, filing the correct angle on the low note bracket and then making the correct "stair" bends to both of them. You will need a vise for this to make it easy. Refer to bracket pics from our sponsor for this.

The drawings I was looking at in the assy manual were actually for the rare optional 3rd horn. There is a better view in the manual - I missed it because it also referred to the headlights and I must have dismissed that page when browsing.

Anyway.... I swapped the horn locations (not the brackets) so the wire terminals faced one-another (another weird deal with the repros) and It worked out perfectly.

Thanks again to those of you who responded and I hope this helps folks in the future.

The things in the pic that "look like" brackets are not. Mine are like yours, including the custom bends.

Thanks Jim,

Now that they're in and I re-looked at your pic - I see the brackets.

You rock! Thanks again,
Dave
