Hey guys, I am just about to buy a rear end for my Camaro and I just need a sense of idea of what kind of engine RPM I will be turning. I currently have a factory 10 bolt with what I believe is a 2.70ish gear. I don't have a tach hooked up just yet, but I figure with the 4L60E trans in fourth gear in lockup it is turning around 1100ish RPM at about 60 MPH.

Well, I recently found a rearend that has a 4.88 gear in it. I know this is too low of a gear for alot of street use, but it's a start until I get the cash for a better set of gears.

My question......what RPM will I be turning at 60 MPH in fourth gear locked up with a 29 inch tire? I don't know the formula for this.

Thanks for any help,

Joe

Wow, thats a heck of a change. 4:88 is a pretty steep setup. I'm running a Muncie M22 with 4:10 and at 60 I'm at 3K.

Very cool man, thanks for the link. I think I can use that in the future. 2400 isin't as bad as I was thinking. Thank god for overdrives! It may be a little more streetable that I first thought.

Thanks again,

Joe
