What do you guys recommend, I am going PPG Scarlet Red on my car with either black or white stripes, still undecided on that as well. But wanted to know which way to paint the grill, if it should be painted a flat black on the grill insert area or silver. Everyones comments on how they have seen it with a Red/White and Red/Black car are welcome.

Brian, take a look at this link and decide for yourself, I guess it would depend on your stripe color...I like white with a blk grille ...good luck. Zuma :D http://geocities.com/MotorCity/3652/69pics.html#ext

Thanks, downloaded all the Red with Stripes and put them on my server, now I can see them all on one page. Red Camaros (http://69camaro.nextmill.net/red/)
Looking at them all, I really like the black grill on a Red Car, no matter what stripe color. Although I am leaning towards Black Stripes now just because it looks a little more aggressive. Thanks!

JMHO, but red with black stripes is stunning. And the black grill looks much cleaner and sporty. I've always felt the silver grill looked a bit cluttered and...well...cheaper. You know, like unfinished, they didn't want to spend the money to paint the grill. And black stripes do look more "serious", especially if you have black interior. The white stripes, not to offend any 'white stripers' out there, looks lighter and sort of 'candy car', if you know what I mean. Again, JMO.

(It would be just my luck that the only guy on the board bigger than me probably owns a red car with white stripes, white interior and a silver grill! LOL) :D

How about silver stripes and silver grill? Like the big money car that was on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2470040154&category=6161

Most grills were silver originaly but today, they are mostly black. I am not sure where the trend came from but thats the way it is. I had mine painted silver so it would look right for a resto-rod. Black looks better on some cars but some like apples some like oranges smile.gif

It's all good as long as it's a camaro!

Brian the original black grilles were molded in black, I don't think you can buy them this way anymore. On a 69 I think the more important cosmetic effect is to not leave the entire grille opening black. I think this looks particularly bad on a 69. The body colored front end treatment is a lot classier and seperates the car from most base coupes that came black around the grille treatment. But it all comes down to what you want. I personally like silver grille unless the car is an SS.

IMO (for what it's worth!)the cars that are black on red w/black interior and grille look "killer"!!

PDQuick you are absolutely right, red with black stripes, black interior, black grill, red body color around grill edge, black around headlight bezels, thats the route I'm taking!
